About
The Grizzly Course is a collaboration between Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead. Since opening in 1972, this challenging layout has been host to numerous PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA events. The golf course features long, curvy fairways lined with towering trees and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. The three final holes feature water hazards, which are also accompanied by a difficult array of bunkers. It offers a fair amount of difficult holes but overall the course is playable for a range of skill levels, which is why it is an appealing layout for tournaments. In addition to the two courses, the Golf Center also boasts an 11,000-square foot putting green and an Academy Course with four championship holes.

Early season round at the Mason Golf Center
GolfNow app. allowed us to pick a time when we could tee off ahead of many other groups and with no one ahead of us.
This allowed for a very enjoyable pace of play, but we could also hit multiple shots for an early season practice round to try to improve on certain parts of our games. 3 hours, 20 minutes to play 18 holes.
The course is really starting to green up, but it wasn’t soggy, and the greens rolled very well.
The perfect early season practice round with better than usual course conditions for this time of year.
Cold day, good golf
the course is always in good shape and the staff is very friendly. One of my favorites.
Winter golf
I really enjoy playing the Grizzly. Today was tougher than normal as the weather was cold and super windy. Playing December 23 so the greens were not cut and the course hadn’t been maintained. Very well. But, this is expected this time of the year. Otherwise, great fun
Windy day
It was a windy day. This course offers a few challenges without the wind. The trees are mature and force accurate placement on some holes. the rough is long and has many leaves to hide an errant shot. Mason resident save $5 per round.
Fair course, slow greens
Tee boxes ok, fairways were good. Because of recent rain no real roll but in good enough shape to work shots. Rough was thick, DEFINITELY KEEP IT STRAIGHT.
Greens were slow and inconsistent, likely due to aeration a few weeks ago. If the weather is good for the next few weeks they'll be faster.
