The Grizzly Golf & Social Lodge - Grizzly Course
About
The Grizzly Course is a collaboration between Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead. Since opening in 1972, this challenging layout has been host to numerous PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA events. The golf course features long, curvy fairways lined with towering trees and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. The three final holes feature water hazards, which are also accompanied by a difficult array of bunkers. It offers a fair amount of difficult holes but overall the course is playable for a range of skill levels, which is why it is an appealing layout for tournaments. In addition to the two courses, the Golf Center also boasts an 11,000-square foot putting green and an Academy Course with four championship holes.

Windy but fun round
Front side rough was pretty thick and long for this time of the year. Greens were fast and nice. Found a lot of bunkers and there was plenty of sand but hadn’t been raked. Overall condition and lay out was very good.
Slow pace
Play was slow. Had to watch group in front wait to tee off on every hole. The rangers out there don’t do anything. Don’t put groups on the clock. Tough to enjoy the round when can’t get into a rhythm. They need clocks on the course so groups can keep pace. Two groups in front of us was 3 holes behind and never got told to pick it up.
Late season late day
The day was hot and dry but the fairways were in pretty good shape, the superintendent seems diligent about watering. Like I said it was hot and we were nearly alone on the course so pace was not an issue and they have a water wagon meet you every couple of holes. A pleasant round.
the layout is okay
The layout is okay and some of the trees have grown that need to be turned back the bunkers are in poor condition some of the fairways are burned out but a nice place and nice people
A good value . . .
Pace of play was not an issue as there was no one in front or behind us until a single caught up to us on the 18th hole.
Course was in very good condition, except for the sand traps (which I managed to repeatedly find.) Many were hard-pan, while a few actually had standing water in them.
Greens were in pretty good shape, especially for this late in the year.
Our foursome played 18 in about 4 hours
Ehhhh
Greens were arriated recently and the greens are TERRIBLE
Great course
Fun layout and excellent fairway and tee conditions. Good restaurant too. Laid back atmosphere and good for all types of player.
Well maintained
Gorgeous course with plush fairways and some of the best greens I’ve played this year. They rolled a little slow but there’s not a flat green on the course so putting can hurt u here. Pretty tight fairways on most holes, there’s a good mixture of long par 4’s and some smaller ones. This course requires u to place shots on most holes as well due to the layout and a few trees. My only true gripe is that you are playing right in the middle of a subdivision and a couple tee boxes aren’t easy to locate (3 West u actually have to drive on the subdivisions sidewalk to get to tee box) and the layout is kind of unorthodox but it’s worth playing a round on for the price of a hot deal.
Another great time.
I should really play here more often. I rotate where I play every weekend but I should give this course two slots to come here twice as often. The course is in great shape. The marshals were driving around passing ice water to the players and monitoring the place of play. With nothing but foursomes as far as I could see, still played 18 in four hours and 10 minutes.
Great Staff
The Golf Center staff was top rate Made us feel special and well cared for all day. Course was in great shape and rangers made sure pace of play was good. Will be back.
Could be better
I was disappointed that hole 6 was closed due to maintenance. There was no way to just skip it since they had the path closed. Very difficult to find the way to hole 7. Cart path could use much repair. Course itself is very good, but it would be great if some inconsiderate golfers would repair their ball marks and divots.
Garyv
Course was in good shape. Pace of play was relaxing.
The Grizzly at Kings Island
Love the challenging layout & the overall facility at this Jack Nicklaus course. Recommend this course to all serious & recreational golfers. Great staff on & off the course. Looking forward to my next round at the Grizzly.
