Overall a good public course
$51 for 18 holes during the week is a fair price. Friendly staff ...course and greens in good shape and I liked that they enforce or try to the four hour pace of play. Would definitely go back.
Decent course
Course was in good shape. Weather was excellent, staff was friendly, and although we had to wait on a few holes, the pace of play was reasonable (4 1/2 hours).
The course itself is decent although not memorable. My only real complaint is that the rough is too long, resulting in wasted time looking for balls.
Course in great shape but too slow
Great shape but greens still bumpy. There needs to be a marshal going around because pace of play on back was horrible.
Good track. Greens aerated.
I like Brambleton but the greens were recently aerated and filled with sand. Probably be in great condition in a week or two.
After 10 years
After 10 years timelag, I come back and tried to have sentimental rounds. Some of the courses are memorized, even if this municipal course is not resort course. The deal is 25 bucks, I enjoyed matchup and good spring afternoons
Greens just aerated and sanded - unplayable
I understand that greens need to be aerated at certain times of year but there needs to be some way to inform people when they are scheduled to be done. All the greens were unplayable.
Playing in the land of deers and ducks
This is the second time I played at the course at which I purchased the Tee time on Golf now. The staff and management would not honor the Golf Now prices that they posted. I also drove an hour and a ten minutes to get to this course. I've played at least 30 courses in the Washington DC. area and I would rate this one the worst. This course was infested with Dear and Duck droppings. I will never recommend this course to anyone and the prices are not reasonable. In short I would say this Golf Course in a health hazard.
Golf
Great golf course to play at for the money. Conditions were so great cause of all the water, but overall it was a great course. Easy layout good for ameture golfer.
watch the woods on No.11, 13, 14,15,and 16
Good course for players of all levels to enjoy. This course has all kinds of challenges. There is nothing so hard that you can not do. It is worth trying with the talent that you have and you need to try in some holes. I like the course.
Good Late Season Value
Played on a Wednesday with another retired buddy when the weather was cooperating. I haven't played Brambleton in something like 10 years or more but it was just like I remember. It's a good course for average players and is not overly difficult for the occasional player or high handicapper. Considering how many other folks had the same idea, pace of play was not bad and we finished in right around 4 hours. The course was in pretty good shape considering the growing season has stopped except for #17 green which had some bare spot problems. As seems to be typical for public courses these days, few people are repairing their own ball marks. C'mon people, exhibit some golf etiquette! It only takes a few seconds to repair your ball mark plus one or two more.
A Decent Muni Course in No VA
Played Brambleton on a cool, breezy but sunny November Saturday afternoon. The course is generally in good condition with the greens having recovered from their early fall aeration. The layout is pleasant enough but feels dated compared to newer courses in the area (e.g. Twin Lakes Oaks, Pleasant Valley, etc.) Most holes have generous fairways lined by minimal rough and few significant bunkers. Most greens are not particularly imaginative and greenside bunkers are shallow with minimal lips. The pro shop and starter staff weren't particularly engaging - nobody appeared to monitor slow play. GolfNow discounts help make this a reasonable value to play.
Nice course and well maintained
This is a very good course with beautiful view. Nice setup and very well maintained. However the group in front of us was pretty slow even though they are just a 2-some. Probably need more attention from the rangers to keep the groups moving.
Nice Course
For a public course, this is well maintained and fun to play. The pace was fast because we started on the back and only followed a twosome. I recommend this course.
Course is in good condition with nice scenery
Although the greens were recently aerated, the course was in great shape otherwise. There are a few holes that are challenging, and a few easy ones too. A nice golf course and in surprisingly good condition considering how hard it has been played all summer.
Nice layout
Greens had just been aerated so they were slow and bumpy but the course has a good layout and is enjoyable and playable.
Surprise !
When I checked into the pro shop, I got three surprises. First, they had just aerated the front 9 yesterday. Second, we would be playing the front nine twice, as the back nine was being aerated while I was checking in. Third, I was going to be charged full freight on greens fees or I could go play..somewhere else.
With all the technology available, how difficult would it have been to post those warnings on the website when trying to make a reservation ? I might have gone somewhere else and tried Brambleton at a later date.
Brambleton usually delivers what you are looking for. Birdie Chances!
Fun track, birdies can be found here. Great wildlife, excellent condition. I will probably be back.
