Brambleton Regional Park Golf Course

The overall course was in good condition. The bunkers could use more sand.

Brambleton is in great shape and the greens are draining well. Pace of play was good. You have got to keep it in the fairway because the rough is a bit long.

Course was in good shape, but as usual there is a lot of walk up traffic. We arrived at 20 minutes prior to our tee time and were immediately admonished for being late and told that our tee time was going to be given to the "walk up" golfers. As we were loading our cart up, the starter rushed us up to the tee (5 minutes before tee time) despite the fact that another foursome was on the tee. The folks here are good people and volunteers and they do their best, but they don't know much about running a golf course. There's no point to have a tee time, because tee times aren't honored. The goal is always to "squeeze out" walk up golfers despite the fact that it crowds the course and slows play to a crawl at #3. About anytime of day you can count on a 4 and 1/2 to 5 hour round. My recommendation is stick to the tee sheet and stop trying to squeeze out all the walk ups.

This course offers a lot for the money as long as you can get a great discount (I recently used Golf Now and saved $20 off the greens fee!). Full service clubhouse (chicken club sub was great!) with a decent driving range. They also have a complimentary putting and chipping range next to the 1st hole. Tee boxes were a bit chewed up due to player neglect but the course was in great condition. Greens were in great condition except for the ball marks from player neglect (common theme). If they required power carts on the weekend, then pace of play would probably improve. It is one of the better county courses in northern VA.

Played the day after a big rainstorm and was surprised to see the course drained much better than expected. The greens were relatively slow but in great shape, especially considering this is a high traffic public course. The staff was friendly, except for the marshal (no surprise there), who was rude to us after we stopped to grab a snack at the turn.

For the hot deal price the course was more than worth the money. As a single it was a bit slow for my taste, I can normally play alone in 3 1/2 hours, but I found myself waiting on almost every hole on the back nine. The course was very forgiving, the fairways were well maintained but nothing really stood out as spectacular.

Course design fails to take advantage of natural terrain on several holes. The "starter" doubles as cart man and doesn't provide any pre-play instructions. This oversight results in fairways that are full of unfilled divots, greens with way too many ball marks, and slow play. Rather deep rough left the foursome in front of us searching excessively for lost balls. Abundant clover didn't help. The round took well over five hours when a slightly shorter rough and availability of course marshalls could cut that down significantly. Though the bunkers were "groomed" they barely had a light coating of sand. That makes for tough up and down from the bunkers when the wedge bounces off the underlying clay. NO restrooms were available on the course. The real clincher that makes this an undesirable course is that there is not a set of tees suitable for seniors -- either have to play too long (6328 yds) or way too short (5473 yds). That's a difference of 855 yds! I last played this course about 25 years ago and had forgotten why I hadn't played there for so long. Even with reduced green fee rates from GolfNow the experience wasn't worth it.

Great value through Golfnow. $30 for 18 and cart. Course was maintained well. Tee boxes had fresh grass, fairways were green, and the greens were medium paced but played true.

Only gripe I have it that we got caught behind the women's league on hole 16. They played so slow we just called it a day.

A few ground under repair aeas and the rough was long in some place and short in others, Rough is way to penal for a muni. Lost several balls that went only a yard in the rough, could not find. Otherwise this course is well worth the money!

Greens are in rough shape, but should come in with better weather and a little more maintenance. The rough is unusually long! A few times barely in the rough and took forever to find balls. The US Open would be jealous of the length of rough!

Only negative was lack of any Marshall's attention to slow play. Round was just under 5 hours. Since we were not in a hurry, we just enjoyed the day and the course. Well worth the money, especially considering the hot deal discount.

This course is one of my favorite local venues. They generally take very good care of the greens. The practice putting green is one of the best I've used. Fairways are fair with some space to spare if you are a bit off the mark. Staff is friendly and helpful. One area they should improve is the driving range. They recycle balls anyone hit out there and when you get a bucket is it like you are playing with hand-me-downs. The mats are old and should be improved getting away from a surface that is like hitting off concrete. Bunkers could use some work as well.

$22.50 for 18 holes WITH CART on a 58 degree day- not a bad value! Only downside was the recent rains had the course waterlogged, but it was playable. Due to a gathering of 20 players on the front nine, I was sent off the back and made great time (1.5 hours). At the turn, it looked like people figured out that it was a nice day and packed the first tee. So my back 9 was also the back 9 (also in 1.5 hours). All in all, a great 3 hours winter round- even if a bit sloppy.

On a day when the temperature may have peaked at 50 degrees, and the wind was whistling at double-digit speeds, my expectations were very low. I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the course - especially after a good "soaking" from all the rain one day prior. I look forward to playing here again!

not a bad public course, but only play with some kind of deal, full price not worth it. greens were aerated a month ago and still bumpy, uneven, no good roles to be had. like they forgot to roll them out. plenty of staff but not the friendliest.

Brambleton is always a pleasure! It is long enough for men and manageable for women and younger players. Player don't need an A-Game to enjoy the venue but wouldn't be bored if they are scratch players.

Between occasional snow and wind, the play was good and worth going out.
