The 14th - a nice short par 3 with a tricky green. Photo submitted by GolferJake78 on 03/01/2019

The 17th - probably my favorite hole on the course. Photo submitted by GolferJake78 on 03/01/2019
Good course slow play
Had a good time the first 9 but was stuck behind a new player group of 4 golfers. Even the course Marshall is warned us of slow play, but why not tell them to speed up play instead?
Fun course to play
This is a great course for mid level golfers. It's roomy and no one seems to take themselves too seriously. Staff is friendly and they don't start groups right on top of each other.
Tees still under repair
Still a third of the holes with temporary tees. And sometimes they are so far forward (ahead of the junior tees) it spoils the whole hole. On 18, the temporary tees was now close to wayward shots from the driving range and one of our group was hit by a ball and another 10 balls missed but were near. Really stupid placement.
Disappointing conditions
First time we have played Centennial in a couple of years. Greens were really beat up. Looks like they ran out of money for maintenance.
A shame, this course used to be in such good condition.
Hope they turn things around.
I wasn’t ready for that
As soon as you pull up, any doubt you had that you are on a municipal course has disappeared. The clubhouse.(I can’t think of another word to describe it.) was probably built in the 50s and hasn’t seen an upgrade since.
The course itself had a pretty nice layout. The fairways were in good shape, but the tea boxes were an abomination. The greens were fine. They were what you were expect for municipal course.
Full Price for way shorter course
With temporary tee boxes making the course significantly shorter and charging full price they should be ashamed!
Priced too high
For an $80 round I was pretty disappointed with clubhouse, course conditions, and overall just not worth the money given 6 tee boxes were under construction. Pace of play was terrible, with not a marshal in sight. First course I played at where no one tucked their shirts in or repaired their divots. I’ll stick to the muni courses in Maryland in the future
Our favorite local course
I played HCGC last year with my son (12). It quickly became our favorite course. It is a small municipal course, but the conditions of the course are fantastic. They are rebuilding some tee boxes and hitting off mats isn't fun, but its nice to see a course (other local courses won't be named...) making course improvements and putting real effort into conditions. Pace of plan on this day was relatively slow (we finished 30 minutes longer than pace), but not terrible. Staff is always friendly. Egg Carne is a great start / mid-way stop for every round. I have nothing bad to say!
Lost season
Little progress on getting tee boxes functional over the past several months... can't even record my score towards my handicap because of course condition.
Greens are soft and chewed up - most players not doing repairs.
Staff is nice and the course layout is good, but the course has been really beat up the entire season.
Worst pace of play you’ll ever see
It took 3 hours to play 9 holes here. If you go, plan to wait behind 2 groups on every tee box. They are also redoing the tee boxes and you’ll be teeing up on an uneven surface with more dirt showing than grass. The temp tee boxes also turn most par 4s into par 3s, they shorten the course a ridiculous distance. Also your tee time does not matter to the starter, as they let later times just play whenever they want
Under construction
This review is tainted by the tee box repairs happening at the course. Most tee boxes were closed and using temporary areas that were just a part of the rough before entering the fairway. The course probably played 1500 yards shorter than advertised.
I’d be inclined to return after it is finished but there was not a warning about these conditions at booking and I feel taken advantage of. I would have chosen another option.
Tees under repair still
Looks like their first attempts to replace the tees didn’t take and they are doing a second round. Probably half the holes are impacted, usually by decreasing the length of the holes by perhaps 100 yards. Would suggest not playing the course until the tee project has been completed.
Stay away
Course was in terrible condition for the price. Most of the tee boxes were under maintenance. Basically hitting your tee shot in the rough on most holes. Left after 9 holes.
