The Hollows Golf Club - Lake/Cottage
About
Hollows Golf Club boasts three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Conveniently, the greens fees are applicable all day, which gives you the opportunity to try out all three. The nines: Cottage, Lake, and Road, are varied enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. The Lake/Cottage combination features the most water of the three golf courses. The Lake nine wraps around a massive lake, the centerpiece of the 27-hole course. There are also a few small ponds that come into play on the front nine. The Cottage nine only has water on the third hole but this tough par 3 leaves a lasting impression. It is the Cottage's signature hole that not only features water but also an 8-foot deep bunker on the left.

Good course, great value
I thought the course was in good shape for the middle of winter and considering there was about an inch of rain on Friday.
It’s got to be one of the best values in the area. $33 for weekend hot deal after the GolfNow fee.
Fun course and for the most part open and forgiving.
Nice golf course
I had played the Hollows off and on since it opened in 1996 and I have always found it to be in good to very good condition, and they have a very nice restaurant if you choose to use it before or after your play, the staff has always been very friendly and as i have become older and disabled the senior tees are a still challenging but fun course to get out and play, it is very reasonably priced and it is my understanding that new carts are on the way soon, also having 3 set of nines it offers a change up for you as well, i am very thankful that it is here in my home area and look forward to playing in 2022
Good Course
I've been playing the Hollows for close to 40 years and keep coming back a couple times a year. My only problem with the course is that the tee markers are very hard to find the color. Maybe if they were totally painted the color instead of just a thin line they'd be easier to determine. Otherwise, the course is a fun, challenging course.
For the price unbelievable
When you can play a course for 20 to 30 bucks and get through 18 in under 4 hours on a Saturday. This is a must play course 3-9 hole course to challenge everyone. It's always in great shape greens can be rough at times and sometimes it's the green keepers can be mad and put the pin position is the worse spots....
GREAT FOR WHAT PAY FOR
The Hollows has become a regular in my rotation of places to play around Richmond. For what you pay, cant beat it for my money. Sure there are nicer amenities, and nicer carts, and practice facilities. But for the $41 I paid for a 9:30 tee time on Sunday, worth it.
I've played all three 9's at the Hollows. 12/5, we played cottage to lake. Course was in great shape for early December. Very often is in top condition.
My only complaints would be. I have yet to play there when there had been food other than bars and chips available at the turn. And the person picking pin placement must often get in fights with their spouse. more times than not, there are a few impossible pin locations.
Other than that, I suspect The hollows will continue to be a weekend warrior destination for me.
Going Downhill!!
I have played this course several times over the past 5 years but this was the worst I've ever seen it! First of all, it shouldn't be hard to find a decent cart with a windshield! There were none! Then it took over 4 1/2 hours to play because there was never a marshal on the course! It will be a while before I ever return!
Greens in great shape
Greens were in excellent condition. Fast and true. Course a little wet from sprinklers in a couple of spots. No waiting and no one pressing us so pace of play was great too
Slow and no reason for CPO
No reason for greens to be so furry and slow, could’ve been cut lower, not wet and no chance of burnout. Great job of drainage since I last played here. That being said, cart path only was very unnecessary with almost no wet areas on the fairways, 90 deg and avoid the few wet areas. Decent course, 3 nines, played Lake to Cottage. Harder than they look especially with 20 mph winds. Blue tees rank short but don’t play that way with 500+ yd par 5s and the shortest par 3 at 170yds, 2 at 185 and one over 200. Restaurant/bar always was good, did not stop in this time. Range was closed. Lot of good work but…
Pretty Course - Pace of Play an Issue
We love the layout of The Hollows and it has been one of our favorite courses to play. However, pace of play is often an issue and was on Saturday. It took 5 1/2 hours to play 18 holes, which is not fun. As often happens, players move around on the course and you end up with people in front and/or behind that did not start there.
The course is in good shape and the greens are excellent. I wish there was a solution to the undisciplined conditions that are present more often than not.
Hello! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at The Hollows Golf Club - Lake/Cottage!
Dont play on Friday
Poor experience compared to what I am familiar with at this course. The range was closed because the personnel that worked there couldn't be bothered to collect the range balls. Then the first tee was backed up and 20 minutes late and people were playing as a group of seven. Front nine took 2 hours and 20 minutes when we can usually play in under two hours. Skipped three holes on the back since the groups out there were so slow and had no idea what they were doing. They had two open holes in front of them but were in no hurry. Need to have someone out as a ranger to move people along so their day is not ruined with such slow play.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
