Perfect for less than $50
This is a good course for improving your game. Front 9 is super fun and memorable for a Virginia course. While the back is a more relaxed, flat, and old link styled. For $37 (and no expectation to PB) this course rocks.
Nice Course, Well maintained
We signed up on line and drove from Fredericksburg. Nice course.Tee boxes are in good shape. Fairways are in very good condition. Putting greens are in very good condition, but are slow. The front 9 is rolling and hilly. The back 9 is flatter and runs along a river.. A nice mix.
Very nice carts. Very nice restrooms. Very nice bar.
Highly recommend.
Hidden gem in Ashland
While several courses in the area are having issues with greens, Hanover course is very well maintained . Greens and fairways are in very nice conditions.. bunkers were fluffy and well maintained. Some challenging holes make it interesting. I will return.
Good Course
The course was in good shape and the layout is good but the greens were very slow. Overall I would play here again and I would recommend this course to others.
Great greens
The greens were 9/10. Fairways and tee boxes are 7/10. Pace of play was great until we were delayed by a groups in front of us on no. 8.
Decent Course
I’m in VA on a work trip and went to this course because it was close to work. The front 9 is really tight with trees and the back is pretty open. Fairways are in pretty rough shape and so were some of the greens. The greens that were in decent shape rolled pretty well. The club house is full of Sunday Swagger gear and has some nice bags too.
It’s a good quick course to play but if you have time to drive and a little more money to spend, I would go somewhere else.
Some great staff, some not
Staff friendliness is varied to say the least. Older staff tends to be very friendly and helpful, whereas younger staff seem to get the impression that working on a golf course makes you high class. Last time I went, I interacted with an older staff in the pro shop and I can say that was the first time I wanted to come back to play Hanover after an interaction with the staff. The course was nice, and although some of it is not maintained (bare dirt, uneven grass) it's a very nice course for an amateur like myself.
A good challenge!
Hanover Golf Club is a challenging course where landing spots are very important on several holes. Normally in very good condition, I was surprised at how thick the fairways were. Not sure why the fairways had not been cut especially coming off a weekend.
decent course but oddly managed
Decent course and much cheaper than courses in New Kent. If you book with Golf Now it is $10 cheaper, which doesn't make sense to me. They also charge a 20% service fee in the clubhouse restaurant. I inquired about it before paying and received an unsatisfactory response from the staff. $10 for about 20 range balls also seems a little high!
Fantastic Staff, Flexible with tee time
In Richmond visiting family. My dad and I wanted to get out earlier than our tee time to avoid some weather. They were more than accommodating and were very friendly in the clubhouse/bar. The starter was fantastic and gave us an awesome overview of the course, and even chased a ball down for us after we gave up looking for it. Highly recommend!!
Great conditions
This course is in great condition coming out of the winter months. Enjoyable 80+ degree day with buddies for an early Spring round.
