Playing two terrains in a challenging golf course
The front nine holes were in a hilly / valley terrain while the back nine was mostly a flat terrain. The fairways and the greens were well maintained. However, if a ball goes into the second cut, it’s a challenge to find it if it sinks into the gross. The staff are very helpful. We experienced a thundershower so after 30 min. there was some water logging. Overall. We will definitely like to play here and recommend it.
Worth the drive
I drive eighty miles round trip to play this course , nothing more need to be said.
Greens need work, grass in the rough needs to lowered. Lost balls in the fairways.
Nice course
Course it’s very nice layout very well. Nice drop off on some walls. Tight weather is definitely affected a lot of courses up there in Richmond with the rain in the heat, but otherwise in that would deathly play it again.
Decent Track
Always enjoy this fun, interesting and challenging course. Greens are drying out though on some holes.
Low value for money, multiple hole standing water
The course has a hilly and fairly tight layout which is pleasantly challenging. But with no map of the course either on the scorecards or at the teebox you are lost without other gps tech.
The day I played followed a week of rain. Rather than curtail play or cancel holes, the course was full open and a lot of traffic but with much of the fairway on about 8 holes roped off as OB due to standing or running water. It made for a very frustrating experience. I felt the green fees ($75) was very high for the quality of play provided.
Needs work
Tee boxes were spotty at best, I guess they were overseeding fairways cause they were running sprinklers all day and sections of fairways roped off.So e greens looked bare and diseased. Have played here many times and course was great but not this round .Found out my buddy who played with me got a discounted round while I booked the night before on golf now and paid full price for me and my son.
Rough shape
This course is in rough shape. They are actively working on it, however, one of the Par 3’s was completely closed due to no tee boxes, 5-6 fairways were completely closed, one other tee boxes was was shut down. There was zero indication that this was going to be the status of the course. Disappointed in the rate for a fraction of the course being open/available.
Under Repair
Like the other recent reviews said this course is under repair. As of 7/16/25 they've got sod on some tee boxes, probably 8-9 fairways have massive patches of fresh seeded roped areas under constant sprinklers. Played with a hot deal of $35 so not sweating it too much but if I payed full price not knowing it was under repair I would have been bummed. I know there is an indicator you can include on your Golf Now listing that indicates that, something I would recommend the course implements. Some greens could use some work for sure.
With all that being said, everyone there is always super friendly, I generally like playing the course, hopefully in a month or so it's back up to it's usual standard.
Not a bad course but not for the price
In the middle of season, you wouldn’t expect browned out fairways, really rough tee boxes, including some under repair, and $10 for a small bucket of balls on a range that looks like a cow pasture. Overall, the course wasn’t bad if you were paying $40 but for $80 this course is definitely not worth it. Pace of play was fine we were never slowed down but course conditions just don’t warrant the cost.
Hanover 7/6
The people at Hanover are still some of the friendliest around. It pains me to say the course conditions right now are tough. A lot of bare areas on fairways and small spots on some greens. Some new sod on the tees shows they are trying to get it back up to speed. I think they will bring it back but i would hold off playing there for the rest of July to give them time to recover.
Fair Track
Enjoyed the round on this hot afternoon. Three extra-interesting holes before heading "into the valley"!
Not my first time playing this course, generally its conditions are decent. The brutal heat wave of the previous week took its toll on patches of the course, mainly tee boxes and fairways, when I played yesterday, however. They were trying… They had people hand watering the greens during the day. But sections of the course fell prey to the brutal heat we’ve been having this past week.
Conditions !
Not sure where this course puts the money it gets from greens fees. Not in the maintenance of tee boxes or fairways. Huge areas where ALL the grass was dead. Many holes are unfair - tight and long with minimal landing areas. I don't think I'll be coming back until the maintenance improves.
