The Hollows Golf Club - Cottage/Road
About
Located in Montpelier, Hollows Golf Club has a 27-hole layout that is considered one of the best values in the area. The holes are divided into three nines that provide three different 18-hole combinations. The Cottage, Lake, and Road nines come with enough variety to offer something for players of all skill levels from low handicappers to more experienced players. The green fees are applicable the whole day, which allows golfers to play all three courses if they have the time and the inclination. The Cottage/Road combination only has water on one hole, but it is a memorable one. The hole is Cottage's par 3 third, which is the golf course's signature. There is not only a formidable pond along the right but also an 8-foot bunker on the left. In addition to the golf courses, the Hollows also has an all-grass driving range and putting green.

Golfer Reviews
Okay
Nice layout, poor greens, weeds in fairways/greens, big bald patches in certain greens. Tee boxes in rough shape. Was expecting more for the money.
Slow holiday
Labor Day morning round at 8:50 am, front nine took over 2.5 hours partly thanks to them letting three twosomes in a row go out in front of us. Back nine was a little faster, still took 4 hrs 45 minutes for 18, waiting on every shot. Thankfully the weather was nice.
Tee boxes pretty beat up in places. Fairways hit or miss. Rough too thick in spots. Greens not bad, just a little slow.
I’ve never left The Hollows thinking I waisted my money.
It’s not over priced, over crowded, or under staffed. The 3 different tracks seem to keep things running smooth and it’s looks like they continue to make improvements. A couple a greens had some bare spots but I’ve seen worse at some really big named courses.
Nice course
The Hollows is made up of three nine hole courses of which most golfers play two on a given day. I've played this course twice and both times the cottage course (the other two are the road and the lake) was closed. In general it's a short course and most holes are wide open. I confused a few times which green to play. My one complaint is that there aren't any yardage markers (200, 150, 100) on any hole. The course is well maintained and there are water jugs every few holes. We played midday on a Friday with little wait time, if any, between holes. All in all a nice place to play.
Fairways
Fairways were in great condition! The tee boxes were hit and miss, some were well cut with grass and others were thick and not cut. The greens were solid and fast, freshly brushed. The pace of play is usually slow on the weekends, due to tee times being only 8 minutes apart
The staff is friendly.
Hollows golf
The course was in good shape but was really slow, lots of people
although the course was a good value, the ground conditions were very wet in a lot of places. drainage issues are a concern at this course
Friendly staff, took my son and his buddy out they walked I rode. Pace of play was great, staff was great course in great shape for price point. Greens were in great shape not particularly fast but definitely not slow. All around have never had a negative experience here.
Good playable layouts and value!!
Very playable courses 3-9 holes options.
I know they keep trying to make improvements but it’s seems to be so slow in completing the much needed conditions improvements. Many greens have scarring in turf, massive amounts of deadfall trees/brush piles need removal, redesigning and enlarging of practice putting area and cleaning up of entryway (cluttered and unfinished looking). Value was a big part of likability however, they have increased cost as if all improvements have been done!
Pretty good overall
Played the Lake/Road combo yesterday. Tee boxes a little rough. Fairways mostly ok, call it a B-. Greens looked really nice, just on the slow side, though they rolled pretty well and held their lines. For the drought conditions, not bad.
Great Little Course
The course was well maintained and the staff were very friendly. We played 9 holes on the Lakes course, and the maintenance guy was out there on the greens checking on things, watering. The cart paths are gravel, but it's a charming course and we can't wait to go back!
Course has improved
This track has improved considerably over the last couple years. Greens and fairways are now in good shape. Tee boxes and cart path aren't great, but I'd rather a course put $ into where the ball lands.
