Bent Tree Golf Club
About
The lush, rolling terrain occupied by Bent Tree Golf Club was sculpted into one of the most popular championship golf courses in central Ohio. Dennis Griffiths, the course's architect, seamlessly blended the design with the natural features of the landscape. The abundant natural water hazards come into play on half the holes and Griffiths strategically incorporated several well placed bunkers. The terrain's gentle undulations provide some interesting slope in the greens that place a priority on accuracy. Bent Tree Golf Club's par-4 eighth hole is especially demanding. It may be short at only 334 yards but it is surrounded by bunkers on all sides. It is followed by another tricky par 4 that requires both distance and accuracy in order to navigate the tree-lined fairway uphill to an undulating green faced with bunkers to the front and back.

GREENS
Played at 7 am. Greens were uncut throughout the whole round and virtually unplayable. Fairways were being cut at time. Greens were long and diseased and not worth the money.
The course is in dire need of repairs
We played the course on Friday and several of the greens are in terrible shape. Looks like some kind of fungus or something is eating up the greens. Lots of unrepaired ball marks were on the greens. It seemed I spent more time fixing the ball marks then putting. Several of the fairways have divots that weren't replaced by previous golfers or the staff when doing maintenance. Although the course rangers were nice, they could do a better job watching golfers to ensure divots and ball marks are properly repaired. I won't pay the rates again for a course in need of such repair.
Nice Layout, needs TLC
Like the layout, but the back 9 needs TLC. Fairways are in bad shape on a few holes (lots of ground under repair, with no evidence of success). Reminds me of another course owned by these folks - Royal American. Not a good value for almost $50.
To many sand traps
Course was in okay shape but the greens are pretty rough in some instances. I don't mind a sand trap or two but there are far to many traps on this course and all they really do is slow down the pace of play
Sand, sand, and more sand...
There are a ridiculous number of sand traps on this course...many of them oddly placed in the middle of several holes. I went on a Sunday and it was packed, I teed off about 25 minutes late. Once we got going the rate of play was acceptable, still took about 5 hours. Most of the greens are dried/burned out...looked like over-treatment of some kind.
Nice course, but a little pricy.
I really like the course and the layout. I would play here more often, but I think it's well overpriced for my game. It is definitely a challenging course and does have some length to it. Allows you to use all the clubs in your bag. The course is kept in pretty good shape, but the greens are fast and there is plenty of sand to get you in trouble.
Fun & challenging course for the money
Not a long course but challenging due to the bunker placement. Course was in pretty good shape except for a few burnt spots on some of the greens.
Play it.......next year !!!!
Having heard nothing but good things about the course I was pumped up to play it. This is definitely not a long track no matter which tees you play from but your approaches must be accurate or the myriad traps and water will get you. It plays fair and isn't too quirky. Would have preferred to be able to grab driver a bit more but I'm certain that's the point of their well protected greens.
DO NOT play here though until next year if you (like me) are irritated by poor greens. To be fair, I heard there was recent (July) flooding in the area which we were told accounted for the green condition. I can understand that on some of the low lying holes near lakes or streams but not on (by my count) 13 of the holes. If you must play here this year make sure its the back 9 where greens were much better.
greens- what happened
love the layout, have played here before but it has been several years. Nearly every green was in poor condition. There were maybe 5 greens that had a consistent playing surface. The rest were fried, diseased, or something- hard to believe they were like this with the weather we have had. On the plus side, the tee boxes were great, fairways and rough in good shape, sand traps had a lot of sand in them, almost to the point were it was difficult to get out on a steep slope. cart girl and starter were very friendly,
Can't beat the deal...but the greens were shaggy
I thought the course was in decent shape. I think the staff is doing an above average job keep the grounds in shape. The cost was quite reasonable, and the course paid for it. Meaning - the average patron is not doing their share of player maintenance. Many unfixed ball marks on the greens, unrepaired divots and such. Overall, the course could use a mow. The rough swallowed balls on a clear day (where did they go?), and the greens were unusually slow due to long, shaggy cut. But, a very satisfying experience for the money.
course was in okay shapes. greens were a little burnt out and bumpy.
The staff did a poor job with tee times. They sent groups off 1 and 10 and did not have them spaced out properly. We teed of at 720 and made the turn at 920. There were 5 groups on the 1st hole so we did not play the second nine. This is unacceptable on a Sunday morning. This was not a good experience for our group since my dad, who was visiting for the weekend, did not get to finish our round.
Great challenging course! .
One of the better Central Ohio courses, but still affordable.
well maintained with sand and water.
Pace was excellent. Many bunkers and water. Played the back tees. The rough was long and took some time to find our stray shots. I very much enjoyed the round.
Greens were slow and rough burning out.
Woodland used to be a course worth the drive but no so much any more. It's still a pretty decent course but just a little rough around the edges with burnt out rough, weedy in spots, and slow greens. Removing so many trees make missing the fairway a lot easier but that was kind of the character of this course where you better hit the fairway or you're punching out. I still love the last 6 holes though!
Greens really smooth
Love the course really good shape and challenging the sand traps are little to much like play ground sand for me hard to get a good shot out of then
Grandson Day
My 12-year grandson and I had a wonderful day at Bent Tree. I will note a special recognition of the Starter who protected our time as we made the turn from the back nine to the front nine. Thanks.
Hazardous to your game
This course is great, makes you play within your abilities. Bunkers, ponds, creeks, and tee boxes. You have to play your shots almost precise, with little room for error. All I can say is if you like a nice maintained course that will challenge you....Bentree will do it and more. I look forward to many more rounds there.
Great Course, Slow Weekend Play
Course was excellent but pace of play was way too slow. Waited to hit every shot from hole 4-18, sometimes up to 20min. A lot of it had to do with a goofball in the group in front of us who played extremely slow...people need to learn how to play golf at pace or get off the course..the course needs a ranger to force the issue.
Bent Tree golf club was a visual joy from the entrance to the 19th hole on their patio overlooking the ninth green.
Bent Tree was found to be a formidable course with undulating fairways and greens kept in good condition. The course is not long, but the fairways that were not tree lined had bunkers and water strategically placed so that every shot counted. The sand was a nice fluffy type and well maintained. The water, of course was wet. The #1 handicap hole is well deserving of the ranking. The tee shot must be placed precisely in the middle or right of the fairway at 235 yards. Anywhere else is blocked or wet, then a downhill second shot of about 190 to a green with trouble left and bunkers right. All in all , a gorgeous facility and course combined with a beautiful patio to enjoy after the round.
Very nice course.)
While some holes very challenging, the overall course is forgiving to most players.
