Bent Tree Golf Club
About
The lush, rolling terrain occupied by Bent Tree Golf Club was sculpted into one of the most popular championship golf courses in central Ohio. Dennis Griffiths, the course's architect, seamlessly blended the design with the natural features of the landscape. The abundant natural water hazards come into play on half the holes and Griffiths strategically incorporated several well placed bunkers. The terrain's gentle undulations provide some interesting slope in the greens that place a priority on accuracy. Bent Tree Golf Club's par-4 eighth hole is especially demanding. It may be short at only 334 yards but it is surrounded by bunkers on all sides. It is followed by another tricky par 4 that requires both distance and accuracy in order to navigate the tree-lined fairway uphill to an undulating green faced with bunkers to the front and back.

Condition not great, but not as bad as others
Let me start by saying that I have been playing the course since it opened 30 or so years ago. The course was not in great shape. Tee boxes were pretty rough and fairways and fringes around the green were spotty and downright bad in some cases. The hot/dry summer clearly has taken some toll.
On the positive side, the greens were in good shape, nothing burnt out and rolled pretty true, though were slower than typical. Also, while the fairways were spotty, if your ball ended up in the fairway in a patchy area, you only needed to move it a few yards to find good grass. Many of the fairways were wet from the course trying to bring them back, so this isn't like Royal American or New Albany Links where they've pretty much just given up.
Do I think they should be charging $50-$70 bucks to play here with the overall condition? No, but thats the demand on local golf courses right now and the most important part of the golf course for condition is the greens and these were still in good shape.
Not the Bent Tree
Have played this course many times in the past when I have come back for the summer. It use to be a crown Jewel of New Era golf. Prices where just, staff was always great and the course was in was always in excellent conditions.
But OMG played there today and the course was terrible. Was informed it has been sold and they are not interested in keeping it up. I would ta
post pics. But.. tee boxes are not level and grass is very rare and there are burnt spots throughout the fairways. Would love to play this Tracy again but I’ll wait. We had a US Open qualifier here once.
What Happened to Bent Tree?
I looked forward to playing here via Golf Now as I did not join Kemper nor have I played BT in 2 years. Except for the greens which were in relatively good shape, the fairways were terrible, suffering from rot and/ or burn out.
The tees were also bad and showed lack of repair and movement.
Nice Course and Great Layout
Not an overly challenging course but you need to think your way around it. Layout is good. Greens are quick and true. Downside is that had an irrigation problem, since fixed but the course has brown spots. Tee boxes are average at best. Bunkers were good but some had not been raked. Biggest issue is the players who don’t fix their ball marks, making the greens rough. I enjoy playing it and will play it again. It’s a good value.
What a shane
Fairways awful, bunkers awful, tee boxes awful, range looks awful. Will not be a course in a couple years. Another sad story of columbus golf going down hill. Future site of some really nice houses.
Stay AWAY!
Overall course conditions are awful! Practice area more dirt than sod. Diseased/burnt out tee boxes, fairways and rough. Rough inconsistent lengths with crab grass crowding out the fringe on half the greens. Sad that this course's conditions are what they are especially with the price they are charging. The head of the ground crew should be replaced ASAP.
Worse shape than expected
It’s been hot with low rain so I get that makes it harder to keep a public course up to par. Just felt the fairways, bunkers and tee boxes were in poor shape for the price point. Greens were solid and staff was friendly. Only other complaint was the starter let a walking single play behind a 2 some and feel that cost the round 20-30 extra minutes instead of those 3 playing together. Hopefully once it starts raining again things can improve.
Missing tee time
I got to the course and they didn't have my tee time in their system, yet I had a confirmation email and reservation confirm from GolfNow. After going back and forth in the proshop, we were rushed on to the teebox and caught up to another two some.
Bday outting
Going to keep it between us but I got taken care of tremendously felt good to be taken care of on my birthday as my mom and dad has passed . Brothers spread out so it was just me and some friends you sir made my day at the front desk!
Fairways are very nice greens are how I prefer them to be . Tee boxes and sand traps did need little assistance. But all in all wonderful experience!
Long afternoon…very long
I know. It’s the weekend, you need to expect it. But it’s not supposed to take the weekend. These courses need to have rangers out aiding the place of play. Also watching groups holding up play when it’s clear they can hit. Excellent layout and greens in good shape. Fairways very patchy.
Really gone downhill
Nice enough people minus the grouchy starter. We tee’d and we’re driving to our second shot by 12:49 on a 12:45 tee time and he was complaining we are late.
Course is just run down. Sand was bad, traps not cared for, tee boxes long and unkept, greens had so many marks that even for a public course, shouldn’t have.
Gave up after 13 holes because there were 3 groups waiting on one hole.
Disappointing when you think this was a top public course in the US at one time.
Disappointment
Was eager to try Bent Tree golf course. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Their starter is quite a character. A+ on their staff.
Pace of play was very slow. Group ahead of us was a five some. There was a large gap between the five some and the group in front of them, and they did not allow us to play through. No rangers to keep pace of play moving.
Course was in pretty rough shape considering how much nicer condition similar courses are in currently. Rough and fairways need work. Traps needed a good raking etc.
Unfortunately, for the cost of a weekend round I’ll be looking elsewhere where there are better courses in the same price range.
