Nice, but needs work.
The staff was great. The pace of play excellent. The course was beautiful on a fall day. Leaves littered the fairways making it hard to find your ball, but that is to be expected. The only complaint which I am sure they are aware of is many of the greens are in terrible shape. The rest of the course was nice. If they can get that worked out, they will have a nice course. It still was a good value for the money.
Awful conditions
This is supposed to be a private course and the conditions are worse than the cheapest public course around.
Great Course
I had a great time playing this course. You can see that they are working to fix course up. I will play there again soon.
Great day of golf
Lot of challenging holes. Well laid out course.
Looking forward to playing again real soon.
If you get a chance, you’ll enjoy this course.
Don’t waste your money
The course was in terrible shape for one that is private. Clearly it’s members have left due to the conditions and the course now wastes away. The price was too much for the conditions of the course and the speed of play was only excellent because we were the only ones dumb enough to pay $45 to play there. The greens need a miracle to survive and really how hard is it to break out the lawnmower more than once a week. Show a little respect for yourself and those that come visit looking for a good time.
Decent Golf Course
Everyone in the Roanoke Valley knows that this course is more appropriately referred to by its nickname, Hunting Balls. The fairways are tight and the woods are thick. Keep it in the short grass because balls lost to the left/right are almost certainly sacrificed to the golf gods. Course is somewhat short compared others in the area. However it is a good deal for what you pay.
Strategic Course & Excellent Food
HHCC challenged me to play more strategically by requiring the use of nearly all the clubs in my bag, negotiating elevation changes, accounting for lies above and below my feet, accuracy and, most certainly, reading greens.
My goal this year was to greatly improve driving accuracy & short game; well, this course had certainly granted that; so much so, my usual golf group has commented on my new driving & short game abilities.
Clearly, when I began to play this course well, the other Roanoke Valley courses became easier.
