Frost delay
Course layout was good for any level golfer. My course GPS didnt seem to match the course layout however. Inside staff were great. Frost delay kept us on a 2.5 hour delay. They granted permission for us to start on hole 10 since we were only playing 9 holes.
Believe the bad reviews!
Don't think the reviews are overly harsh... The two some I played with said it was worse in the summer when they played, and I can not imagine paying for it. They were new to golf and got a gift certificate from family. What a waste of money! A note to the management: PLEASE START TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR COURSE.
Black Friday without the crowds
Had a great round today. Introduced 2 new people that hadn't played here before. They really enjoyed it!
Exactly what everyone says
Not all the greens are f-ed up, some are still decebt. But there are some brutal greens that are just in need of fertilizer and some time to recover.
There are some beautiful shots (going under the railroad bridge, the finish 18, tee box on 1).
I found myself getting mad, cuz your just like if they put a little money in, it would be a great course. Even if they just fixed the greens.
Better Than The Reviews
Wow. These reviews are brutal, which is why I have avoided playing here until today.
I didn’t see a course in poor repair. I saw one green that needed some help, but overall, things were very shipshape. They had two cuts to the fairways, which really added to the enjoyment.
It was really wet today, but the greens were beautifully designed and well-maintained. The ball rolled the way it should have - no nasty surprises. The greens are spacious , with excellent soil foundations and drainage, and shaping and tiers which make them fun to play. There’s a well-defined and maintained fringe, forcing chip/putt decisions for those of us with marginal abilities.
The course is absolutely beautiful, It’s short (only one par 5, but it’s a nice, long one), but the par 4s are very interesting. You won’t be ripping a driver and driving the green (with a couple of exceptions), but will be playing a game requiring precise ball placement on fairways that narrow strategically and punish errant shots.
This is a course which is designed in every detail to reward those who love the game.
If you like the layout of Camas Meadows, but want to be able to play without a cart, this is a course you will love.
It’s a walkable links layout - a rare gem.
I would like to see them vary their rates the way Mint Valley does. $40 is reasonable, but a little steep on a rainy day.
Check the slope ratings. If you like a challenge that rewards shotmaking, this is a course for you. I’ll be back. And when I’m playing, the only place you’re safe is on the green :)
Course in bad shape
Heard a lot of rumors from other golfers that this course was in bad shape and they will never go back. I found a “hot deal” today for Cedars and I thought, why not see it first hand. Really disappointed in the condition of the course. Not sure who owns this course but may be time to sell it to someone who will actually put in the work (and money) to make it a playable course. Play many different courses in the area and they are nowhere in this bad of shape. Hopefully they can find new owners that will take pride in this place.
Don't waste your time or money
The course is in terrible shape! They should be giving a huge discount instead of charging more. The course needs serious help
Don’t play here
Just really bad in general. Asked for a scorecard in the clubhouse after checking in, was told they were in the mailbox by tee box. No scorecards on either side. Greens in bad condition. Not good for the price.
Course needs work
To me the course didn't seem as bad as other reviews, but it definitely needs serious work. Fairways themselves were in decent condition. One foot off the fairway was either deep rough, (like saw where your ball went but couldn't find it deep) or dirt with dandelion patches. Almost all of the greens had dirt patches on them but didn't really affect my play. That part was probably just luck. Where you landed on the green would determine if you had to play over the dirt. All in all, for $25 (Golfnow hot deal) it was better than being at work. Probably won't go back again though.
Lot of work needed here...........
Course is in very much need of repairs in many ways. Greens were very slow, had no grass in many spots, brown spots - cracks around outside edges. Many fairways had no grass, mixture of hard dead spots, dirt and small rocks. really run down from a few years ago when I last played here. Cut a few par 5's into a par 3&4 due to house construction and loss of two holes. I would doubt this course will be around in future if no changes in maintenance.
A Diamond Coated In Neglect!
I want to choose my words here carefully! I want to say to everybody, this is really a course that we all should be making teetimes to play. At the same time, I would understand after playing it once, you may not put it very high on your list of courses to return to. To me, this is the sad part. I absolutely love these 18 holes, but with the condition the course is in it almost makes you want to cry. It’s truly a beautiful 18 hole track that if it had green fairways and If some professional could fix the grass on the greens, I’d play this course every single weekend, and I don’t even live in Washington. The actual greens, the design of the greens are amazing and brutal, but with the condition they are in, again it just makes you want to cry, because you see the potential that is there yet, whether I’m right or not it just looks like neglect., Or they don’t have a true superintendent who knows how to grow grass properly. In the end, if you have not played this course I personally would recommend you to go see this amazing track, but don’t expect plush Fairways or smooth greens, and if you go there knowing this, you will enjoy yourself and you may even come back hoping that they can get it all fixed.
Or you could say this a track all of us should avoid playing so it would be sold to someone who will rebuild the greens and restore the course.
Only person this is getting sold to is a real estate developer :(
