Eagles Pride Golf Course - Red/Blue
About
Located just 20 minutes south of Tacoma, Eagles Pride Golf Course in Fort Lewis is one of the area's best golfing values. Originally opened as the 18-hole Fort Lewis Golf Course in 1940, it soon became known as one of the best military courses in the country but it's also open to the public. Another nine was added to the layout in 1979. The three nines, known as the Red, Blue, and Green, are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Red/Blue Course is the original layout. The classic design is player friendly but at the same time challenging with an abundance of trees lining the fairways and greens as well as tricky elevation changes that make it tough to find a flat lie. Each hole offers plenty of variety.

Another Great Time
We had a foursome for the 3rd time. Each time we have played the course it been nice to see the care the grounds crew does. The front desk people are friendly and have a great deal of knowledge.
Classic old style course
The course was in great condition considering the heavy rains we had Saturday the greens were rolling really nice and it was a beautiful day
Crazywxday!
Started off in drizzle then off and on heavier precip and sunshine by the end. Started off had the course to myself and workers! Only challenge was the elements.
like flexibility of 3 nine-hole courses for punching greens
Having 27 holes allows closing one nine hole course to punch its greens, while allowing play on other 18 holes.
Course condition was very good with fine fall weather.
Great Day
This is my first time playing the blue course. Eagles Pride is three 9 hole courses which gives you options. They punched the blue greens about 2 weeks ago but they looked great on the day I played. The weather was a bit drizzling off and on but not bad. Some reviews stated staff was not great but I had no issue. They man at the desk was helpful and seemed to be in a very good mood. The Samuel Adams restaurant is still being renovated. Be advised this course will be punching the other two courses in the coming weeks. A bit if advice, call your courses to see if they are punching their greens as this is green maintenance time.
Great course slow play!
Loved the course tough test! Pace was too slow. There was a 3 some using carts and a twosome using a cart in front of us. My wife and I were walking. Taking into account distance between some tees don't understand why we had to wait on most of the holes.
Great value course
I've played eagles pride more than a few times this summer. Blue Course open since mid July is ideal.
Red course/Blue Course is an excellent 18 holes.
Greens in good shape. Fairways watered and kept in solid condition.
Superb range and practice facility.
Worth the drive from Seattle and not on military base, so no delayed entry.
Cons:: no drinking water on course or in clubhouse.
Restaurant / brew house remains under construction.
Morning pro shop fella is sn absolute grump. Usually there is a very pleasant woman. If he's there, hopefully his attitude and outlook won't affect your experience too much.
Great course
I love this place! Three different courses and plenty of challenging holes. This is the third year I've played this course and have never had a problem.
Love the course, won't walk it again
I have been wanting to play Eagles Pride since I started playing again this summer. Made it out yesterday as part of what is becoming my regular 3-some and really enjoyed the day.
This course is gorgeous. It was in very good shape and is far more challenging than any of the other courses that I have played in the South Sound area, so far at least. Many of the holes have tight fairways, the rough was deep and very hard to get out of, and many of the greens have undulations that can lead to some very interesting putts.
As I mentioned in my title, I won't walk this course again. Many of the holes have a long, and elevated walk from green to the next tee. In many ways it reminded of the typical housing development layout of courses in Arizona without all the houses along each fairway.
For those using GPS, we had three in our group, two by Bushnell and one from Sky Caddie, and on two of the holes on the Blue course the GPS data is out of date. It appears that they recently redesigned two of the holes, and par 3 and a par 4 and my best guess is that they flip flopped them. Aside from that, the GPS devices were dead on.
I highly recommend this course, there are some very pretty holes and I love the "out in the woods" feel that you get on almost every hole.
Eagles Pride GC
Great course, greens are in excellent condition and well maintained, sand traps are near ideal conditions and the fairways are groomed to great standards
Great course horrible amenities
The course is amazing for the cost! The lady at the front desk was very rude! I played 36 holes... I set up a tee time through golf now, obviously. It was for 3 people. One of my friends got into a car accident on the way and couldn't make it. I don't know if this is typical protocol but she told me that she would still charge me through golf now for the player that didn't make it... the course was empty and I thought they should be happy with our business but I guess not... also no water available! Had to buy water from her. At the turn a new guy was at the desk and he gave us 6 bottles of Costco water for free! Again great course and had a blast but not the friendliest of staff... an hr drive from my house!
