Eagles Pride Golf Course - Blue/Green

About
Eagles Pride Golf Course boasts a reputation as one of the best courses in western Washington. Located in the shadow of Mount Rainier, the course is less than 10 miles from both Lacey and Hawks Prairie as well as just a short drive from JBLM and DuPont. The 27-hole layout consists of three nines: Blue, Green, and Red; that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Blue/Green Course begins with one of the original nines when the course first opened as Fort Lewis Golf Course in 1940. The Green nine was added in 1979. The classic design of the front nine is slightly less challenging than the back, where you'll find plenty of trees and strategically placed bunkers. Water also comes into play on a few holes.
Previously known as Blue/Green at Fort Lewis Golf Course.

Happy with my tee time!
The winter course with these wet conditions was in good shape!
Fun Day for Golf
Played the Red and Blue courses at Eagles Pride Golf Course yesterday with three of my Brothers. So glad that we also spent the cost for Carts. This is a very long course, even if you play from the Senior tee boxes. I wish that they still offered the great deals for golf of a decade ago. Then for $30.00 each you got a Cart, 18 holes and Lunch. Not anymore... Now it's the same cost to Walk 18 holes and extra cost for Carts and No Lunch. That's the cost of a new roof for the beautiful Clubhouse and remodeling in the restaurant.
Great course.
It has been a awhile since I golf there. Forgot what an awesome lay out the course is. Holes are all so different but friendly. Will be back.
Thanks
Valleys and Visually Challenging
Course was setup great with great elevation changes and tiered greens. Some greens were slightly slower
There were some holes, where one could not get a sense of the layout/path adding a layer of challenge to the hole.
Definitely a must play course!
Good and Challenging Course
The red always beats me up and then I really enjoy the blue course. It's like doing penance and then being rewarded at the end.
Terrible pace of Play
No starter for our 1:48pm Saturday tee time. Pace of play was extremely slow, and there somehow was a 5-some playing in group ahead of us, making the pace even slower since they were taking their sweet time. Friend had a 1:09 pm tee time, and they were only 3 holes ahead of us. We timed an average of 23 minutes per hole, with a 7 min wait between leaving the green to teeing off at next hole. Terrible pace of play and the marshall could only do so much. They told the 5some to break up in to 3 and 2, and that only lasted maybe 3-4 holes. Ended up being a 5.5+ hr round
No golf cart with a 95 degrees weather.
We booked this course online and because my wife and her girlfriend enjoyed playing this course earlier of this year.
We have special guests from Hawaii that wanted us to book for the next available golf. We didn’t plan on walking and so I booked for a foursome. The biggest mistake of my life. Once we checked in the clubhouse, he told us there is no golf cart available. It is reserved for a tournament at 1:30p. Our tee time is 9:00am. 95+ degrees soaked in a sun and walking from hole to the next. For those who played here before, this course is not made to walk if you are not fitted. The foursome ahead of us are seniors, and they had to walked as well. The twosome behind us for some reasons they were able able to ride on the golf carts. The red and green courses were available for us on this day. The red course were all beat up with dandelions grows wild everywhere on the fairway. The green course were much better in condition. Btw, the twosome behind our group drove the ball and hits my leg while I was waiting to settle to hit my ball. Three marshalls took turn and rushing out and warned us all for the pace of play. Our group is not slow but the foursome seniors had some difficulty moving faster in the heat. Either way, this course is very difficult to walk if your are 65+ older. I don’t think I’ll be returning to play this course again. If you do, call the clubhouse to ensure that they reserved a golf cart for you if possible. It’s terrible on how they organized the activities. When we finished playing, we saw at least 10 golf carts were available and parking in the lot. The leaders in the clubhouse should be fire and should make better arrangement for all the golfers to enjoy.
No Power Carts!! Again
I have been playing golf in the PNW for 37 years, and I currently play 2-3 times per week. Only twice in those 37 years have I been told they were OUT of power carts when I arrived at the course and both in the last 6 weeks! For Eagles Pride to schedule tournaments and then not tell customers when they call to get a tee time is absolutely unacceptable!! Both times it happened to me I had taken a vacation day off work to just be told at the counter, by the same rude guy, they had no carts. A guy behind me in line said he had driven 60 miles to play there and also assumed he could get a cart. This course is very long and both times it was 85+ degrees outside. I enjoy walking, but not this course in that temperature. To top all this off, I have experienced the same guy at the counter who has ZERO customer services skills! This guy should never be in a customer facing position. He clearly could care less and made no effort to show empathy. It’s probably time to have this guy work another position and I’m sure anyone who has dealt with this guy knows who I am referring too. The “good old boys” mentality this course appears to employ is awful and something from the 80’s. I will take my business and my 5-8 people I play with somewhere that has their stuff together. Sad because I enjoy the course.
What golf is all about
After playing this course dozens of times over the last few years I took my 11 year old son for his first time. It was a perfect 80 degree day and he had the best time ever golfing at this awesome course. The staff was friendly and the course was in great condition. Thank you for the memories this day created!!!
