The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Traps
The traps were horrible- hard sand, almost like dirt - impossible to get clean hit
Enjoyed it
4 hours for 18 with 4 of us. Never really had to wait. Course in really good condition for public course
Blah, confusing course layout
The fairways are close to each other that is hard to say if the golfers are in your fairway or not. The layout is just confusing. Which fairway to go???
Aggravating….
Wasn’t a bad course at all… Pace of play kind of ruined it …. Front nine went pretty quick but on the back nine was backed up on every hole had to wait about 20 minutes and took forever…… Also was behind a single that refused to play with anybody it was awful so that didn’t help either
Overpriced
We have hit a point with golf popularity growing where some subpar courses have become criminally overpriced - and this track is the poster child... $75 for this course is insane, in my opinion. This is a $45/50 course on its best day. Short and narrow course, all holes sort of crunched together, gimmicky greens with pin placement that isn’t thoughtful (pins are just thrown near the front of a sloped green 90% of the holes). Again for $40-50 it would be fine, but a $75 round here is a slap in the face.
Who Hurt The Greenskeeper?
Upon arriving and getting our bags out we were asked to move our cars because the restaurant gets busy. There is no signage directing golfers to park anywhere in particular.
Then we teed off late because they “were backed up” and got greeted by five holes where the pin was literally built into a slope on the green.
Finally, at the turn of our 5 hour round at a brutal place for a course less than 6000 yards it took 10 minutes just to try and pay for a hot dog and soda.
Paying $75 for a round here felt like a huge ripoff. We won’t be back.
Just OK
The course needs work on the tee boxes and rough area. Course is in dire need of rain or water. Pace of play was pretty good.
Nice day.
Course was in good shape. Played with two other gentleman. A little overcast but weather conditions good. Will come back.
