The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

SELECTIVE ENFORCEMENT
The course was cart path only due to overnight rain which was understandable. However, the staff seemed to target my pairing. They came by at least 4 times to say keep all four wheels on the cart path when one wheel may have been off and touching the grass that compared to other pairings that were driving on to fairways and rough (non-handicapped players). Otherwise, I enjoyed the course.
Cart path only.
Not many golfers due to cart path only. Played a round 3 hours and 15 mins. Fast play. Weather was ok. I was glad to get out. The staff was accommodating.
Doggy Legs
Shannondell is a challenging course if you are not good in the rough. It is very thick and will grab your clubs. But it is very pretty and the dog legs can drive anyone crazy. Almost every hole!
Great Deal time value
Played in just under 4 hours even with wet course and cart paths only. Will be back.
Would play again
This course is on my list of favorites. I will be checking back to catch another hot deal.
Increase Pace of Play
Their rangers are lazy and don’t do the job. Tee times are eight minutes apart and there’s no one moving anyone along, especially on that first tee where there is a downhill dogleg. I get why you compress the tee times. You are trying to make money. Fine. But put your people out on the course to spot and keep pace of play high. Instead all of your “player attendants” are chatting it up under your podium and umbrella. There’s better options at this price point. Shannondell is last on my list when looking for round behind Worcester, mainland, turtle creek and landis creek.
Course ok
Too many severe dog legs for a shorter hitter..
Course was in good condition considering the amount of RAIN that we had that week. Longer players in the group who have never been there were not happy not being able to hit driver on par 4's and. 1 par 5
Played this course during a federal holiday. Arrived for tee time and was told they are over 30 minutes behind schedule and no carts available. Had to wait around to eventually play a 5 and a half hour round which included walking the first hole until a cart was available.
8 minute tee times and essentially no ranger monitoring pace of play lead to an absolute disaster. Only thing that prevented the day from being miserable was nice staff and course was in solid condition.
Management needs to do better they let customers and staff down.
Fun course to play
Nice Course. Pace of play was excellent. Course conditions great. Greens were challenging, difficult to read and a tad slow.
Good afternoon of golf
Played here several times in the past. First time this year. Went out around noon. Course is in great shape. Played in 4 hours Will be back again soon
Extremely poor pace and rude staff
Round took 5.5+ hours, and not the first time this has happened here. Two sons with their dad were claiming they worked for the course and were verbally harassing the group that I was playing with. Bragging about playing free golf and chirping obscenities at us. I’m never playing here again. Even the starter is awful princess ignores everybody and is rude. Waste of money to sit in the cart on a tee box and watch hacks chip it down the fairway
Fast round
Professional staff.. Quick round of golf. Enjoyed the day.

Calling a starter, who is a minor , a “princess” weird comment. And yes 5.5 hours on a weekend at a public course with “hacks” as you call them. What else do you expect? Go join a Country Club
