The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Golf course layout is too confusing and dangerous
It was our first time in this course. Golf course condition is reasonable. The layout of the course was too complex and confusing. A lot of halls are mixing each other, so, some spots can be very dangerous for the players.
Good for the price.
We booked around for two golfers with cart for under $80. Tea boxes definitely could use some work. Fairways were decent. Greens were well kept, but the staggering amount of unfixed ball marks was problematic. I fixed at least 5–6 every single hole. Of course, as well watered on fairways and greens, but some tea boxes and much of the rough area Was pretty burned out.
If you’ve never played this course before, you might be put off by how close adjacent holes are, with Aaron T shots ending up in, and even across other fairways on a pretty consistent basis. That alone, coupled with a lot of older, more leisurely golfers, really had effect on pace of play. Even with that said, we finished the round in 4.5 hours, but it definitely should’ve been under four.
Final word, you get what you pay for, and we didn’t pay much and we had a nice experience. I would definitely go back for that price, but I don’t think I’d be happy if I paid $60 around.
another pleasant round at Shannondell
Conditions were good. Pace of play was good. My only complaint is pin placement. Not sure several of the placements were legal. Not much flat area on any of the greens but that does not mean the pin has to be on the side of a hill. Staff is always friendly.
This course is too target-y
Holes are narrow and short but force you to hit 210 or less off the tee due to doglegs, leaving longer approach shots than a course of under 6000y would normally require. One par 5 requires no more than 200 from the tee, which leaves 260 to the green guarded by a creek forcing another mid iron. The course is gimmicky and requires local knowledge. I prefer courses that are more “what you see is what you get”.
Also there’s no practice green near the clubhouse or first tee. You have to take a ride to an old green to practice.
Shannondell
I always enjoy playing this golf course. However yesterday, I was kind of disappointed. Not so much in how the Supervisor is keeping up the course, cuz they do do a really good job, but with the jerks that don't fix their divots and ESPECIALLY their ball marks.
If you want your course, which they do a great job with to stay nice, fix your darn ball marks!
Good day
I enjoyed my round on Monday. The weather was perfect. I met some nice golfers. It was a great day.
Good day
I had a great day. Weather was nice and the greens ran true. I met some fellow golfers and enjoyed their company.
Hot day
I enjoyed the round. Course was hot and humid. I had to take breaks in order to finish my round. Pace of play was excellent. Greens ran true. I will be back in cooler weather.
Would play again
It is becoming one of my favorite courses to play. The restaurant and bar are great.
