The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Pace of play was a wait on every hole. The tee boxes are close to previous hole's green so errant shots by ourselves or those following resulted in several close calls. signage is inadequate to guide golfers from hole to hole, the route is not always obvious. We encountered a foursome on the front 9 that played the wrong green off the tee box. We would have done that on hole 10 if it were not for the other person that joined our group. .The fairways are not always seperated from the adjacent fairway so there was a lot of players (including us) that would occasionally hit /play from the adjacent fairway. The sand traps where in terrible condition.
A lot of dog legs but fun
Course a bit challenging but in great shape and fair. On of the Best 19th holes
Tee placement
The blue tee and white tee are too close to each other. One should be placed in the back of the tee box and the white should be placed in the front.
Great pace of play, great layout, greens were a bit slow
Greens were a bit on the slower side. Felt like we were putting against the grain. The rest of the course was in really good shape. Played in four hours and ten minutes…can’t remember the last time I played a round that quickly. Staff was great to deal with.
Waste of Money!
Every time I come here, I expect to get hit by a ball at some point. People are yelling “Fore!” every hole. Pace of play is ridiculous. It’ll be at least a 4.5hr round. The demographics are a bunch of 20yr olds and seniors. The younger crowd don’t really understand golf etiquette. Lots of backward hats and untucked shirts. I’d say the average handicap for the players here is 30 at this course. If you’re a bogey golfer, you’re gonna be waiting for awhile. The condition of the bunkers are terrible. Grass growing everywhere. Avoid at all costs! Play Jeffersonville, which is right down the road.
nice course
The course is a challenging course with a lot of different looks and is always well-maintained. I've always liked playing there.
Great Place
For years this has been a great course. The greens, fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. I would like to see the cart paths(some) better maintained. Same for some of the bunkers. A true test of accuracy; as the rough is rough ! That said, I'd also like to see less clover in the rough; as it is difficult to find your ball(and doesn't look great. A good value at $40 per man.
