The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

To Be Expected
Saturday. Sunny. September. By the fourth hole the delays were noticeable and continued through 19. Lots of doglegs Shared tee boxes, tight fairways, and 25+ handicap golfers do not mix well, especially with ill-defined fairways on parallel hole. “Fore ” was a frequent and despite sitting in my cart a ball landed in my lap- from the parallel hole! Seriously, fairways and greens in very good conditions, most bunkers need help, and staff is very friendly. Will play again, but no time soon as there are many local choices.
Good luck
If you want to get hit with a ball this course is for you . The holes are all stacked on top of each other. High chance of getting drilled with a ball. Our cart got hit twice and we almost got hit on several other occasions. Helmet is recommended
Pro shop manager was rude and belligerent. Do not buy anything there, they will NOT accept any returns on clothing or any products. Do not buy a gift card there. They will not let you use it at the Chadwick's restaurant attached to the club, literally two feet away, but don't tell you that when you buy it. Their club and the restaurant/banquet are advertised together on their website and all is owned by Shannondells, yet on my Mother's 75 birthday celebration, the manager refused to accept a $50 gift card I possessed. He would not even allow me to sell it to golfing customers paying cash, and threatened to have me thrown out or call the police if I tried. I thought golf was a gentlemen's game and I thought customer service was important, but not at The Club at Shannondells. Maybe they should invest in a "golf professional" to run the pro shop, or at least someone who doesn't berate and bully the paying customer. I was a caddy for 10 years and I never treated anyone the way I was treated today. Their address may say Audubon, PA but believe me you're still in Norristown. I will never go back there and suggest you take your business anywhere else.
Slow Play
Pace of play was a little slow, even with it not being terribly busy we were waiting for multiple groups on multiple holes. There are some green-side bunkers that are really rough, almost all dirt, no sand to speak of. The course is otherwise in good shape, the greens rolled true. A warm up area with a few hitting nets or a practice green would be nice.
Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Fairway traps in poor condition. Traps around greens in average condition.
