The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Sand Traps??
Have not played this trak this season. Looks like they are doing away with most if not all sand traps, which is a shame. Overgrown, NO sand and weedy grass where it used to be a sand trap.
Too cheap to put water out
Slow play, no water, no cart girl. Played in 95 degree weather for five hours without so much as a garden hose. Course is fair at best. No ranger, backed up all day.
Use of Promo
Unfortunately I was not able to use my promotion. It said after 12:30 and when I checked it would not allow me to use it. Not sure why. I ended up moving my time up but when I kept trying to schedule a tee time after 12:30 it would not allow me to do so. Can you please get back to me and explain. Thanks, Bill Galvin
Its a par 70 not 72, 4 stars
Par is 70 not 72. Nice greens, not crazy fast but they roll true. Saw a bunch of old fairway bunkers converted to grass that werent mown that was the only negative. Fairways are tight on most holes, and there are a few more doglegs than i would like, i like straight holes lol. Would definitely play it again.
Pace of play was a wait on every hole. The tee boxes are close to previous hole's green so errant shots by ourselves or those following resulted in several close calls. signage is inadequate to guide golfers from hole to hole, the route is not always obvious. We encountered a foursome on the front 9 that played the wrong green off the tee box. We would have done that on hole 10 if it were not for the other person that joined our group. .The fairways are not always seperated from the adjacent fairway so there was a lot of players (including us) that would occasionally hit /play from the adjacent fairway. The sand traps where in terrible condition.
Tee placement
The blue tee and white tee are too close to each other. One should be placed in the back of the tee box and the white should be placed in the front.
