About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

First Time
This course has holes right next to each other so there are constantly issues with other players in your fairway or you in theirs. Some holes are so close to each other it is hard to discern which hole/green you are aiming at.
Very slow play. Didn’t finish because had already been there for 3 hours and still had 5 holes to go.
Need POP clocks.
Greens, fairways, tee boxes were fine. Getting stuck behind a cart group that isn't keeping pace with the group ahead is a problem. The office said the ranger would be out. Never saw anyone, skipped two holes in fear of a 5hr weekday morning round; and our group was walking. Big plus- they have water jugs every few holes!
Worth the Hot Deal price.
Awful service
Course isn’t in bad shape, could use more signs to tell where you have to hit as some tee boxes cross paths. The staff was absolutely atrocious. We had a teetime around noon and teed off slightly late because of a small downpour, after nine holes was told the carts have to be in by 5 PM. Around 5 PM, somebody from the shop came out and told us we have to come in on the 16th tee. Granted, we were at about 4hrs 10 mins on 16, but it had rained steadily for an hour and we let a twosome play through our foursome. The staff admitted they simply wanted to go home early and had no viable reason for making us bring the card at 5 PM during the summer. There was literally nobody behind us either, only a couple of groups walking the front nine.
I will never play here again. The staff in question should be fired.
Not great
Your life flashes before your eyes as golf balls bombard you at the tee boxes. Many of the bunkers were ignored and overgrown. It was still an entertaining round of golf, so I’ll give it 2 stars.
Shannodell
Great Course, challenging long holes and the greens where fast. Overall great mixed in the layout. I will definitely play it again.
WOW!!
Everything is 90%!! Tee boxes are full with little to none bare spots. Fairways and rough same way . Crew watering areas in direct sunlight. It was very pleasant to see a truly lush golf course.
Doglegs, doglegs, doglegs. 5 par 3s . 6000 yards from the tips.. Some tees and greens are close to on another. Bunkers are more miss then hit right now, but I did notice some new looking sand in a couple traps. Hopefully they are in process.
