The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Great course and greens keep your ball in the fairway cause rough is high and thick. But a course I like playing
Atrocious
Played here four times, first time passable, second through today absolutely aweful. There is actually a section around 7-9 that creates such stress amongst golfers that I have seen on three separate rounds someone throwing a club. I just take it easy not for others that do so. More of an advisory, its a trap. Stay out of the traps
Great course for the $$$
The course was in great shape. Greens rolled well and quick. Pins were in some tough places. Played in about 3 1/2 hours. Only issue was the were cutting the grounds while we were playing and the driver of the tractor never stopped, even when we were hitting about 10 feet from their path. He just kept going.
Great Course!
Greens were in great shape, layout was awesome for the price. Not too long, but thick rough and only a few straight holes.
Course in good condition greens in good shape, holes are too close together, so incoming balls are a risk
I’ve had quite a few head injuries, so the tight layout was frightening. Golf balls constantly coming from other fairways and tee boxes.
Course condition was great and I would definitely play it again if it was less crowded(less chance to get hit lol)
Club at shannondell
I was a single but got paired with 3 dudes who were nice, but also cut a slow group on literally hole 1 lol.
Only comment about the course it’s 6000 yards, not 6400 like golf now says. Lots of dog-legs so the driver won’t get much action. I had fun tho
Fun/challenging layout
This course is pretty well maintained, and considering i always book it on a discount it’s definitely worth it. My favorite part about this place is working out where to place shots, because the number of hard turns forces players to pick and choose smart shots.
Decent course but poor pace of play
Course was in good shape. Layout was interesting. Pace of plays was awful. Played with a group of three and after 4 hrs we had only completed 15 holes because of multiple groups of 5 and 6 ahead (are you kidding me!). Marshals didn’t seem to be doing anything. They didn’t even give me a score card at the start so had to rely on the guys I played with for all layout information. Pretty disappointed overall.
Saturday pace VERY slow
The pace of play was nearly unbearable. We are regulars at this course (2 a week minimum during the summer). This was the slowest paced we’ve ever encountered. We played the first 4 holes in 1.5 hours. The course is very good although their tee times are too close together. The Marshall on this day was good though. He was trying to improve the pace of play.
Great first experience
Great course for the price. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Only downfall was that the pace was a little slow because of the group ahead of us.
