The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

PACE OF PLAY AND COURSE CONDITIONS
I've played here 2 or 3 times and the pace of play is horrible. The starter told us 4 hours was what we were looking at. 5.25 hours later we walked off. It also seems no one explained the concept of fixing ball marks on the greens
Grassy bunkers
The bunkers were horrible, I was 150 out and hit a shot , I figured I was ok because it looked like I landed along side the green but it was in a bunker ., lol
Good Conditions for the Price
Conditions were good; greens were a little shaggy/slow, and bunkers have not been maintained in years. There are a lot of bunkers that have been fully taken over by crab grass. Fairways and rough were in good shape.
This course is narrow with a lot of dog legs. Tee boxes are in the danger zone of other holes so expect to duck and cover a few times during the round. Not much room between holes, but the price is decent.
Superb Value
The course was in great shape. The starter even let us go early to stay ahead of the weather. No range. Lots of doglegs.
Great late day play
Short course even from the blues but fun course management style course. Fun easy open play. Great for mid- beginners
