The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Good shape early on
Second time playing Shannondell, and again very good value course. Fairways and greens especially were great for so early still in the season, rolled really smooth and had some speed. A lot of doglegs, not long at all but need to hit smart shots. Some bunkers are filled with grass (no sand) not sure if they are supposed to be that way and cart path could use improvement. But a nice track to dial in the game and try to shoot a good score.
Left of Hole 1
Teed off at 12:20 (12:30 once we waited for the twosome ahead of us) got done the hole and at 12:50, when there was a foursome and the twosome ahead of us ready still on the 2nd tee I left and got a refund. Completely terrible course management and pace of play. I’ve never left a course before
Cart Path Only
Heavy rains the night before and the fairways were fine.
there were places off the green that were muddy but not impossible.
Sneaky long
Only 5990 yards from the tips, but most of the par 4 are 360-390. A couple over 400, including the 415 yard 18th. One of MANY doglegs up hill and left. 18 has a pond at 100 yards in front of the green. A recent aeration with small holes didn’t effect puts on greens that ran quick.
Glad I got in on the deal when I did. I grabbed the last 2 spots available 9 days ago. Grab the hot deal when you see it or come out and play. I
Three hour notice.
The club house called me three hours before the tee time and said that they are closed due to too much water on the course. I don't think it is true. It was easy to reserve the tee time with another course. The yeaterday weather was not that bad to play golf today. And it was not even cart path only in the Bucks golf course today.
No Cart? Course great, but had to walk.
You (Golf Now) statedthis round included a cart, but when I went to the golf shop I was told no more carts in th Winter. They said they would call you to get my $$ back, but it was mid day and to kate to play anywhere else. I decided to WALK and managed to get around, though I had to carry my bag which for a 64 year old in wind chills of 24 degrees was pretty tough. I will ALWAYS call now so I don't have this happen again...course was in super shape for time of year althoigh all the pins were way hard in the back corner of the greens like 2 feet from the fringe, so very tough. I did play Summer rules and reslly only had one lie that was goofy as the ground was icy. Still, greens putted well and I will go back WHEN THEY HAVE CARTS TO RIDE.
Great Course - But Dangerous
This was my first time playing at Shannondell, and out of the gate I was very impressed. The first hole is fairly easy to get to, but the greens proved to be a formidable force on all holes. As time went on and more people were coming onto the course though, we found that it was VERY congested. The holes are practically on top of the other, which causes a lot of confusion for targets as well as safety concerns. I have been golfing for 15+ years and in my entire time, have never yelled FORE more.
I personally will be unlikely to play this course again, simply because I was constantly worrying about hitting other golfers or being hit. The course IS in great condition though, and does provide a difficult round, especially on the greens.
After the frost delay.
Even with an hour and a half frost delay and cart path only we played the round in about 4 hours. The course was in pretty good shape.
Course was just ok
First time playing the course. Markings could have been much better for finding the next tee, and there were little or no evident markings for the 150 and 200 yard distances.
Great fast moving round!
Early morning round meant damp conditions but course was in decent shape for the most part. Finished
My round in 2 hrs 50 min. Love that!
