The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Need marshalls
No control of pace of play, fairways rough, 5th tee hard to find if you never played there. Don't think I will go back unless someone forced me
Not impressed
Very tight track .players are hitting at each other .bunkers are all mud .course needs manicuring and cart paths need repairing .and no divot sand mix on carts
Solid Sunday at Shannondell
I hope too many people don’t start coming here. We went off at 8:20 am and finished just under 4 hours 20 minutes. Waited on a few holes but nothing out of the ordinary. Greens were rolling but cups were in tricky spots. Recommend for those who like a challenge and appreciate mid irons shots.
The traps were full of water or wet hard sand but we have had a ton of rain lately so no big deal. I like it there. I walked 18 and didn’t have too much difficulty.
Great course
Great gourde and nice pace !
Unfortunately, raining happened!but the course manager permit us to play after raining finish!
The Club at Shannondell
Though the course was in decent condition the sand traps were horrible! We would state that they should be nicknamed as “dirt traps” rather than sand traps. Some had weeds, water, grass growing in them! Disappointed on those but the rest of the course seemed to be in decent shape!
Nice. Course
The course was nice and well kept. The fairways were tight and the course wasn't long, so course management and club selection are key.
It was challenging and for $30 with cart, a great value.
Course was good
The pace of play was too slow. People on the course had no business being on a golf course. If you can’t play one hole in less than 30 minutes you should not be allowed to play. One threesome slowed the entire front nine.
Pleasantly surprised
This course is not long but definitely challenging. The greens were in great condition. I would play this course again and recommend to friends.
Annoyingly tight
It's a pretty manicured course. At least the grass is. The sand traps are harder than cement nothing to work with. The greens are basic but small but surprisingly fast. Being that the course is tight the small fast greens only adds to the frustration.
Also this place is uncomfortably tight. There are maybe two holes where you can swing away.
The sand traps combined with the guy at the counter who rushes you make this place barely recommendable. I like both jeffersonville and even Westover better.
Played on a Monday it hasn’t rained since Thursday or Friday and there were ponds in most of the sand traps
Course of last resort
Outside of the greens, management puts little or no money into maintaining the course. The sand traps are a tragedy, and the course does not drain well - avoid it after rain. They pump group after group out on the first tee, and don’t range the course, so pace of play is brutal. I play this course when nothing else is available, and because it’s cheap.
Course layout is too cramped
Course conditions are always quite good. But every time I play this course I come away feeling a bit dissatisfied. No memorable holes. Starts with 4 very tight holes then breaks into wide open with parallel fairways and a major road running alongside. Feels like a low end muni in for about half the course. Finishing holes challenging. 18th calls for a draw that only low handicappers can hit.
Very nice clubhouse but not a “golfers” layout.
Business as usual
the course at Shannondell is tight but well designed with plenty of hazards to keep the enthusiastic amateur engaged. pace of play can be an issue, but this Saturday was pretty good.
Okay for $18.00
Decided to try this course because of the Hot Deal, but won’t be back mainly because it’s too far from my house.
Also, rough needs to be trimmed a bit, sand added to traps, divots repaired, and greens addressed. You could see that areas are seeded for repair, so they are trying. Ball did not roll true on greens making putting a nightmare. That said, for $18.00 it was okay.
