The Club at Shannondell
About
The Club at Shannondell, formerly known as George Washington Golf Course, has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the "25 Best Golf Courses in Pennsylvania" and it's also on their list of "Best Places to Play." From the back tees, the course is just over 6,100 yards. Put away your driver because there won't be many chances to grip it and rip it on this course. It's a seemingly mild layout with wide, gently rolling fairways that appear forgiving, but the strategically placed hazards along the pitched greens demand well placed shots. The cut of the rough is also higher and there are several doglegs, placing even further emphasis on accuracy. Proper club selection is also very important on this golf course. The Club at Shannondell is a fun but fair test for players of all skill levels.

Bunkers are depressing
overall the course is very playable with tea boxes fairways and greens all in good shape. The Greens in particular are fast and smooth with a lot of subtle breaks.
This makes it extra surprising the bunkers are in seriously bad condition. Although it hadn't rained in at least a couple of days they were large puddles in many bunkers and those that were dry had virtually no sand.
Excellent Course
The Green's were fast and constant the way I like it. The only problem was the pace of play it was a 5 hour and 25 minute round but I would play their again
Beautiful course, we’ll maintained with very fast greens.
Lots of dog legs which add to the challenge.
Not much sand which is good for me.
Could use more direction to the next tee, got lost twice and
We went the
Only ones.
Shannodell round three
Great deal on Golf Now. Really enjoyed the course last few round and I didn't want to change a thing. The course is in great shape.
Nice Course, great value
The course was well kept and challenging. The course is on the short side, so you won’t need your driver much, if at all. You have to keep your ball in the fairways or you won’t have a chance at a decent score. Greens were quick and a good test of your putting skills.
Overall, a really nice course at a reasonable rate. I’ll play there again.
S U P E R. S LO W!
ridiculously slow groups in front of us. called pro shop but told no rangers svailable! 5.5 hour round! never again
Course is in great shape
Second time playing Shannodell, course was in good shape even after rain. Greens were is great condition, overall not too many concerns when playing. Definitely play there again.
It worked.
Hot Deal, $35. Totally worth it. However, do not be alarmed by slow as they allow groups to play 175yd drives from the white/blue tees their entire round. The pro shop will address the issue, but only if you call them. The water coolers made it bearable.
Good Bar and Course, Bad Front Desk
This was our first time to this course. Beautiful driving up. Good restaurant and bartender was very knowledgeable. The front desk staff was lacking in both courtesy and finesse, however. Immediately upon entering the club house, the front desk manager was in a bad mood and didn’t say hello or ask if he could help me. He seemed frustrated when I asked for help. Later he yelled at my friend for carrying his clubs free instead of having his own bag (he just moved and is about to get a new set. He had enough clubs to play and could keep them in my bag). After that we were yelled at because we skipped a hole to stay on time (you’d think they’d appreciate the courtesy we were doing). Given the type of business they run, you would think they’d be nicer to the clientele. Wouldn’t waste your money on this course.
8/31/19 great conditions
Very nice conditions. I have played a few other local courses recently and none had nearly the good conditions that I enjoyed at Shannondell. A few bunkers were in bad shape but all else was nice. Surprisingly fast round for me and my wife ..less than 4 hrs. Course sets up nicely for women from the red tees.
Not a fun golf experience
I just want to start by saying that the course conditions (mostly the greens) were very acceptable. Save a few bunkers, it’s clear they take good care of the course. However, that is where my praises cease. This course is not conducive to a fun, enjoyable round of golf. Cramped holes, tight doglegs, and sprayed golf shots whizzing overhead made this an overall bad day on the course. Additionally, on multiple occasions, the greenskeepers drove straight across our fairway with a dog in tow, slowing down our pace of play. Overall, I would not recommend playing here.
Terrible Conditions
Greens are filled with ball marks and chewed up. Sand traps are more like dirt traps. They have water and weeds in them. Fairways are ok for a muni but a bunch of crab grass. Tee boxes are not good. For 51 dollars in is a terrible deal.
This place has a (dog)leg up on the others
Mostly agree with other opinions listed. it does feel a little compact at times. Sometimes I was nearer to other foursome playing other holes then my own foursome. I almost killed someone who was off the 1st fairway with my tee ball from 4th hole he was hidden by a tree and steps out into path of said tee shot luckily I yelled and it just missed him. My partner got paid back later as a ball flew into cart while he was relaxing (cart was on path on our hole) as i was in bushes looking for yet another tee shot that missed the fairway and made it into woods,,a few more minutes would pass before we would see who was responsible. Other then that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play. Well the tee boxes were good, fairways were fine, rough was good and greens were playable. Some of the traps were a problem but I just make the best of it and moved on, no big deal. We did enjoy ourselves and will return. I guess it helps being Bipolar. Just kidding, there are enough good things here to warrant a return trip..
