Maplecrest Country Club

About
Opened in 1929, Maplecrest Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Kenosha County. It is conveniently located a surprisingly short drive away from Chicago's northern suburbs. This challenging public course has long been a favorite amongst locals both for the playable design and the affordability. The golf course is relatively flat although there are a few subtle contours that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Watered fairways and fast greens protected by bunkers provide the bulk of the course's challenges though it is still quite forgiving if your shots are slightly errant. It is a course that beginners can approach with confidence but it still has plenty to offer for more advanced golfers. One good example is the difficult green on the sixth hole, which stands out as one of the toughest in the area.

Nice maintenance and good scenic view
Nice value for price. Nice maintenance. Recommend!!
Good Course Overall
I have played this course several times. It’s usually not too busy, which helps make for a quicker round. Not overly long, so it’s good for beginner to intermediate golfers, but can prove to be difficult for anyone that is not hitting the fairway. Good golfers can just as easily shoot mid 40s as high 30s due to many holes having fairly tight driving areas. The greens are small to medium in size, and many are elevated (with some downhill too). In the past, the green speed seemed to be on the slow to medium side, but this year they were quicker and rolled fairly true.
Great course for the cost
Perfect day yesterday. Course is in the best shape it has been in years.
Course is being very well maintained
Had a cool but great day of golfing. Considering the wet conditions this year the crews have diligently kept at trying to improve the ground conditions. Kudos
Slow two people in front of us
The two I front of us were hitting 2 balls each on most hole. Very frustrating.
Much improvement
This course has come a long way in the past few years. Honestly can say I’m going to miss this place.
Great course for any level
My best friend and I play here almost every Sunday. We love the atmosphere and the layout of the course. Almost no water to contend with. The only thing from me rating this course higher is the rough is a little too long this year. If you go off the fairway it takes a little bit of time to find your ball. Other than that we really enjoy golfing here. The staff is the friendliest that you will find anywhere.
