Opened in 1929, Maplecrest Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Kenosha County. It is conveniently located a surprisingly short drive away from Chicago's northern suburbs. This challenging public course has long been a favorite amongst locals both for the playable design and the affordability. The golf course is relatively flat although there are a few subtle contours that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Watered fairways and fast greens protected by bunkers provide the bulk of the course's challenges though it is still quite forgiving if your shots are slightly errant. It is a course that beginners can approach with confidence but it still has plenty to offer for more advanced golfers. One good example is the difficult green on the sixth hole, which stands out as one of the toughest in the area.

Great course for the cost
Very good course for the price and very few other golfers. Our twosome got done in 3 hours.
Great Course
Love this course. Staff are awesome and do everything they can to accommodate anything I need. Never have issues and have a great time weather I am by myself, with friends, or golfing with my family. Highly recommend this place.
A good challenge
The course is in very good shape considering that we haven’t had a lot of rain lately, brought a couple friends that never played the course before and liked as much, it’s a nice place and we enjoyed the friendliness of the staff
Thanks keep it up!
A challenging venue.
The course is easier played from the short grass. It's well bunkered but, with good management you can avoid the trouble. Water hazards can also be avoided with good shot placement. It's a beautiful and challenging course. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Makes you play the course
My playing partner and I had a great time. The course had spots where the heavy rain had settled. However, this did not affect the playing conditions. I like playing this course and I played it years ago when the trees where smaller. I like the challenges and trying to read the greens.
Play this course is from the fairway
The course has a lot of bunkers but, with good management they can be avoided. The fairways are tree-lined so, the best place to play is from the short grass. The last hole is a 465-yard par four. Four good shots down the middle will give you a par. It's a great venue so work on hour short game.
Maple Crest GUR
Great deal at $22/person with cart but the course has a lot of ground under repair. The greens also have lots of scars and some heat damage. The course has chapter but need maintenance.
Terrible service
Teed off after 9:00 a.m. and not one single fairway green or rough was cut and it appeared that it hasn't been cut in several days. Not sure how it's possible to lose a ball in the rough between 2 separate fairways. The employees inside were not friendly and not helpful especially when we were turning in our cart keys. I felt as if I was a burden on them to stop what they're doing to help me. The staff friendliness and the course has gone down over the last few years. If I didn't get the course for $20 with the cart I probably will not ever go back.
Slow Play.....Not well kept.
During the first 9 holes we had incredibly slow play for the last 3 holes. They saw us waiting but didn't let us play through. We were in a cart and they were a group of three walking. On the 17th a group of 5 players walking let us through right away. But when we were on the green putting, these knuckleheads starting hitting to the green, one ball was on when we walked off. As I was getting in the cart, another guy hit a wood that whizzed by me about 20 yards away. Why did these morons let us through if they were just going to be impatient. This is the second time someone has hit at us while on the green at this course. Both times we were keeping pace. The fairways were hairy and the greens were not cut any better. A lot of the tee boxes only had one marker for teeing off, which is just lazy. This course has gone downhill the last 5 years or so with the new management. When you have people hitting into you and people not knowing simple etiquette, it just makes this course look like Hill Billy golf.
Long Grass
The grass was not cut off the fairways n we kept losing balls because of it. I’ve played this course before and it’s nice but it seemed like the grass had not been cut for quite some time which made it quite frustrating. It was actually too difficult to even hit the ball out of the grass because it was so high.
They couldn't keep the rough mowed most of it was 6+ inches so you spent alot of time searching for balls
No longer a great course
I used to love playing Maplecrest. Awesome layout, challenging holes, quiet surroundings, charming clubhouse. Now the place is run down, and the course is always overgrown. I lost 6 balls in one round that never went out of bounds. Good luck keeping pace if you don’t land your tee shot in the middle of the fairway. This course is junk. Don’t get sucked in by their great deals on golf now.
