Opened in 1929, Maplecrest Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Kenosha County. It is conveniently located a surprisingly short drive away from Chicago's northern suburbs. This challenging public course has long been a favorite amongst locals both for the playable design and the affordability. The golf course is relatively flat although there are a few subtle contours that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Watered fairways and fast greens protected by bunkers provide the bulk of the course's challenges though it is still quite forgiving if your shots are slightly errant. It is a course that beginners can approach with confidence but it still has plenty to offer for more advanced golfers. One good example is the difficult green on the sixth hole, which stands out as one of the toughest in the area.

a challenging course
It was just a little wet. But I like the layout of the course. Good value for the money. I will diffinitly play there again.
Weatherwise, the first decent day to play. Course was dry and in pretty good shape. Greens at Maplecrest are always tough. This day was no exception. Always a good value.
Good value
It's early in the season so the grass hasn't started growing yet but no other issues with the course. The only negative is that there were no signs at the tees to show which hole you were on.
Wheres the signs?
This is a nice course that owners don’t take care of, no signs on holes, traps are not maintained
My grandson (age 11) and I (age 75) played from the golds (5000 yds) which was perfect for us. I am getting old and can't hit it long. He is young and just starting to play the game.
Maplecrest is a favorite of mine
Maplecrest is a nice, no frills course: It can be challenging, as there are a lot of tress, but the greens are fun & are usually kept up pretty well: The course used to be managed better & kept up a little better, but I think these days they don't care for it quite as well, as the play has dropped like every other course.
Poorly placed trees
Greens were nice and the course was not crowded even on a saturday afternoon. A lot of trees on this course and a lot of them need to be cut back or cut down as they are positioned poorly as to punish good drives. Essentially if you are not in the fairway you will not have a second shot at the green and even if you are in the fairway there could still be a tree in your line.
Great fun
This is a nice course for the average player. The holes are not too difficult and will reward good iron play. Greens are in fine condition. Bunker have course sand and can be played with confidence.
Perfect day although a little windy
Conditions were ideal, sunny about 68 degrees. Wind from the east made the holes different approach clubs. Greens held and were in great shape.
Great shape
Course was in very good condition. Not too many people golfing today so quick round.
Bad upkeep
Can't even distinguish fairways from rough. Impossible to find balls in rough due to old grass clippings.
Great value
Well maintained and great greens. Enjoyable round.
Great comeback after the severe rains.
No standing water. A few soft spots. Greens very good. Fairways good.
Maplecrest fair course
Course in good shape. Counter person "Bill" very helpful and congenial,. When walking in you feel very welcomed by him. Unfortunately the tee times I am able to use at Maplecrest, about 10:30 ALL of a sudden disappeared ?? Would use your service if more tee times available mid mornings... Like you service very much... Thanks for your interest ⛳️⛳️⛳️
Good course
I like the course. Good value, staff accommodating. Golf course is fine. A few dry spots but in relatively good shape. One thing that is a little peculiar is that the course tends to keep their fairways cut high. Not quite rough, but you won't get much roll here. Club says they keep their grass high to prevent damage as they do not have an automatic sprinkler system. I imagine that during spring and fall this course is perfect.
Poor Management w 6 hours for 18 holes.
We walked off the course at the 14th hole. The course play is not managed by anyone at anytime. Maplecrest seemed more interested in selling beer and shot sales then respecting the playing time of customers. 14 holes took 5 hours before walking off. A 4 PM a wedding party with 5 golf carts came ripping past us while we were teeing
off with out care for the golfers who were playing. The course has potential but requires new management focused on golf.
Maple Crest - Enjoyable Round of Golf
I played here for several years in a woman's league and always enjoyed the course. Somewhat challenging. Definitely need some good drives and the greens can be difficult. Pleasant staff. Generally well taken care of. Will always come back a few times a year to enjoy it.
Great course
Course is in beautiful shape, wish players would help keep it that way, fix your ball marks!
