Opened in 1929, Maplecrest Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Kenosha County. It is conveniently located a surprisingly short drive away from Chicago's northern suburbs. This challenging public course has long been a favorite amongst locals both for the playable design and the affordability. The golf course is relatively flat although there are a few subtle contours that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Watered fairways and fast greens protected by bunkers provide the bulk of the course's challenges though it is still quite forgiving if your shots are slightly errant. It is a course that beginners can approach with confidence but it still has plenty to offer for more advanced golfers. One good example is the difficult green on the sixth hole, which stands out as one of the toughest in the area.

Surprisingly great
I think this course is full of different looks and punishing when you are not thinking of where to play your shot. That's a good thing!! The greens were very fast, but true. I was paired with s threesome of great guys who made my miserable golf game much more fun. I would love to have this as my home course if not such a drive.
Poor management
No sand in bunkers. Bunkers not raked. Had reserved a tee time, checked in and they said "just line up and go". Needless to say there were 6 carts on the first tee in no particular order. Very unorganized. Went off the back and had an ok round. Only positive was friendly bartender at end of the day. Most likely will NOT be back.
beautiful course
beautiful course staff very friendly maintained awesome place to play
Great value for the money!
My two friends from Green Bay came down for the weekend for golf and a backyard BBQ. We played Maplecrest on Sunday with a "hot deal" on GolfNow.com - 11:00 T-Time. The course was not crowded- probably due to the threat of rain off and on all day. Chatted with the starter before we went out, and we had a great conversation. Maplecrest has two small putting greens, as well as a practice range. The course was in excellent condition, and the greens were moderately fast despite all of the recent wet weather, more of which came about halfway thru the seventh hole. Continued golfing after about a 10 minute shower, stopped in the parking lot at the turn to get some dry towels out of my car so we could dry off our grips. The back nine went smoothly despite a bit of standing water on the course in spots. I thoght that the two huge pot bunkers in front of the green on 12 added something to the round, but believe me, you don't want to get into either one of them! Took about 4 hrs 20 min to play with the rain delay. Course is not overly difficult, but not a pushover, either. Some holes had very narrow landing areas for drives, so on those holes, accuracy was a must. Fairways were in great shape too. As we turned in the cart and keys, the starter said "thank you, come again", somthing that you don't hear much anymore. I said "we had a great time and we'll catch you next time", because I'll be back, and I would definetely reccomend this course to others.

Great shape
The course was in great shape. Narrow fairways and small greens make a tough 18 holes. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will be back soon.
Great course
Tees and greens immaculate with fast greens. Fairways very good but second cut long and hid balls. Play was moderately fast, finishing in just under 4 hrs for 18 holes.
Good course with fast greens
This course has had some management issues and slow play in the past. This was my first time back in about a year and things went real well.
very slow
There were 3 groups of beginners ahead of us, ,never seen a ranger to speed up play.5 hours ,only played 14 holes and left
Pace of play was horrible
Teed of at 11:40 and finished at 5:10. The pace of play was horrendous, the people in front of us knew nothing about golf and wouldn't let us pass. There was a 5 some ahead of them and no ranger to be found. We had to call the clubhouse to get someone out on the course to speed it up some. The wait staff in the clubhouse was clueless to what products they had to offer. Overall I would not recommend playing here after 10am on a weekend. You'll get way to many non golfers and the staff doesn't seem to care.
Kinda Wet
The course was very wet. Nobody's fault. Some of the bunkers had standing water in them & we have not rain for 5 days. Not sure that they are fully staffed this early in the year. The greens were in very nice condition but pretty slow. Again, probably due to the wet conditions. This is a nice course and will play it again. I've played here twice last year & was not disappointed. Nice bar.
Beautiful Fun Course
This was my second time playing Maplecrest riding 18 and it was wonderful. The course was fun and in good shape. It has water and sand obstacles, but is set up to be challenging but not too much. Staff was very friendly. Both time I played I had a lot of fun and would definitely recommend the course.
Nice shape, a lot better than last year.
Coarse was in quite good shape, greens were aerated about a week ago and could have been a little better but they were still rolling good. only issue was a foursome in front of us on the front nine held us up on every hole so it was quite slow. They finally let us play through at the turn and had a much better back nine.

Very well kept course I would recommend
Playing this course to all my friends it is quite long so if distance is problem it might not be for you
Green conditions
This course has very fine fast greens with subtle movements. A pleasure to play but demanding.
Not bad for someone learning
A friend and I were learning from another friend. This course kept things challenging but not too difficult for us. Staff was friendly. Food selection for a quick bite to eat could be expanded. Course is well maintained.
Not to shabby
As long as you get out right away in the morning the pace is great. It's a good course for beginners to intermediate players, if your a pro this course will hold no challenge for you. The course is kept up fairly well, not the best course but def not the best either. If you're new to the area there are there are better courses in the area but for the price you still get a good day of golfing. All in all I rate a 3 1/2 out of 5.
Good Course
It was an overall enjoyable day of golf. Only real complaint is the price of a 6 pack of beer. $16 is a bit steep.
maplecrest
The price was unbelievably cheap. This course is challenging with mature trees lining all the fairways. A very good course and a good value.
The Turtle Round
The course is great; it's very challenging. Maplecrest is in great condition. The rough is thick, and the greens are challenging. The only downside is they need a ranger to keep the pace of play. Both times I've golfed here I was behind a very slow group, who would not let me play through. 5 plus hours for 18 holes.
First Impressions
A rather bland course (no water hazards), but fun to play for all levels. Three sets of tees tend to provide fun for everyone. All in all, quite enjoyable.
