Opened in 1929, Maplecrest Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Kenosha County. It is conveniently located a surprisingly short drive away from Chicago's northern suburbs. This challenging public course has long been a favorite amongst locals both for the playable design and the affordability. The golf course is relatively flat although there are a few subtle contours that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Watered fairways and fast greens protected by bunkers provide the bulk of the course's challenges though it is still quite forgiving if your shots are slightly errant. It is a course that beginners can approach with confidence but it still has plenty to offer for more advanced golfers. One good example is the difficult green on the sixth hole, which stands out as one of the toughest in the area.

Great course
Nice course decent food friendly staff would play there again for sure definitely recommend
good value
Overall met expectations. Good variety of holes. Par 3s are great.
a journey of joy
Some folks might want to hurry through a golf round at warp speed. Some folks when paired with a father and a 9-year-old boy would moan. Well, not this 71-year-old Marine. We enjoyed all of the 4 hours and 20 minutes. Life is not about numbers but relationships. The manager's advice was to keep the ball below the hole. If I had only followed his advice. Greens were at warp speed but true. Loved 'em. I started to practice for a senior Olympic event in September but ended up with a journey of joy. By the way that kid could play. Smacked a drive 175 yards and hit a fairway bunker shot next to the cup. And those greens? Banged them in the back of the hole. We had way too much fun!
Decent Course for the money
I played with 1 other person. We played relatively quickly. The weather was nice. I though the course could have been in better shape. I thought the course was pretty good. I have to admit though, I would not pay full price to play this course.
This course is a lot of fun
Maplecrest was a surprise that exceeded my expectations. Lots of doglegs and nice elevation changes for a Midwest Chicagoland course. Interesting challenging holes with very nice greens. Great value. I look forward to playing it again when I am in the area. If I lived with a 30 minute drive I'd be there every week.
challenging
Very friendly staff
bunkers need work and soft sand
need to spray for mosquitos
Maplecrest cc is a great challenge
The trees have matured over the past 85 years to make the fairways narrow. Greens were in great shape and fast compared to other public courses. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. I wish I had taken his advise to stay below the hole more often!
Course was in great shape ... but
the course was a tad noisy ... we teed off at 10:15am and they were still cutting the grass and making all kinds of racket. They did stop as we approached but most courses would be done with that maintenance well before the noon hour. The layout of the course was great and the fairways and greens were in tip top shape. One turn off was they allowed two "5" somes to play ahead of us ... it was the first time we ever had to watch 10 golfers tee off on a par 3. Quite the exasperating wait.
Nice course
The course has challenges and the greens are a true test of accuracy, all in all a nice course to golf
Greens are quick and true
Nice layout with greens that were in excellent shape. Quick and true.
okay average course
got a good price for the course, very impressed with the fairways, roughs, and greens, the bunkers however were a joke and very disappointing, hard like a brick! overall an average course, if I didn't get a discount, probably wouldn't play the normal rate, I believe the discount rate was more of what its worth, still not a bad course, just not up to par with what id like to play.
great course
Very fun course, several very challenging Par 3's as well as some well laid out par 5s that make you really plan out your shot selection
kenosha WI Golf
Had a day off of work and decided to go some where new found MAPLE CREST got behind an outting and took all day to play 5 1/2 hours. Pace of play was terrible. No ranger on the course. Bring mosquito spray. Early and in the afternoon and with no breeze they R bad. The tees and fairways R in goid shape. But PLAY BELOW THE HOLES ALL 18. The greens R rock hard. And they all slope towards the fairway. Not a long course at all. Lots of trees so hit straight or u will be forced to punch out and look to find the greens in 3. 585 yard par 5 & 464 18th hole make it challenging.
Stay out of the trees
The course was in good condition. Make sure to keep the ball inside the tree line or it makes for a very frustrating experience. This course was very nice for the price paid!
Hard grounds
Fairways are hard. You could see water spots in the middle of fairways from leaky sprinkler heads but the grounds were hard. No beaver tails from the fairways. The smallest greens I've ever played. Not a very nice course.
Nice course for intermediate golfer
Friendly staff and fun course with long open holes
Slow play but nice day
Relaxing 5hr round. Nice course. Booked solid but steady pace of play. No hurries or worries though. Bring bug spray if playing late afternoon, course stays pretty damp. Greens play fast but soft. Nice bar and patio, with a grill. Usually pretty busy and tends to have quite a few outtings and leagues on regular basis. Great course to bring new comers to the game. No worries on speed of play and prepare for 4 hour minimum rounds. Nice place.
Great course conditions
The course was in the best shape out of all the times I have played the course. The grass was nice and green and greens played very true.
Great value
Again as in other reviews the rough made it extremely hard to find balls. Assume they will be cutting it shorter. Greens were above average and deceivingly fast. Unless you were below the hole you end up with severe breakers on many of the greens. All in all it was an enjoyable round of golf. Cart girl was available and friendly.
thick rough
Course wet. Like most in the area. Rough very thick cause they can't get out to cut. Nice and flush around greens though. Was a chilly day. Surprising for a Saturday not as many people out. Pace play great cause no one there. Definitely will be back.
