Opened in 1929, Maplecrest Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Kenosha County. It is conveniently located a surprisingly short drive away from Chicago's northern suburbs. This challenging public course has long been a favorite amongst locals both for the playable design and the affordability. The golf course is relatively flat although there are a few subtle contours that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Watered fairways and fast greens protected by bunkers provide the bulk of the course's challenges though it is still quite forgiving if your shots are slightly errant. It is a course that beginners can approach with confidence but it still has plenty to offer for more advanced golfers. One good example is the difficult green on the sixth hole, which stands out as one of the toughest in the area.

My fisrt time playing the course. Greens were great. Even after the hard winter we had. And the rough, well the rough was somewhat of a spectacle, amazing it was so thick and dense already. Fairways we pretty decent but had signs that they were getting back to were they needed to be. All in all it was very well put togther and i was extremly happy with it for the $15.50 to walk 18. The par 3's are very changelling, and the bunkers are deep and challenging, lot of fun. Great value for the money.
Challenging course
For the time of the season it is the course was in great condition
This course is not mainted well/no yard marks/terrible greens.
The course had all sorts of different yard marks spread out on the fair way. Never knew how far away you were from the pin. Majority of the yard markers had little to no paint on them to even be clear as to what color they are. When you stepped on to the tee box, it was poorly noted as to what hole you were on. All it had was a 2x4 pole with a mail box # sticker on it!!! What a joke! If you can get a hot now deal for $12, play it. Other then that I would never recommend it!!! Never knew how far away I was from the pin because of the none existent yard markers.
Great greens can make al the difference.
I was very impressed with the experience at Maplecrest CC. Greens were as good as I have played on this year. Green speed was very fast and the greens themselves were in very good condition. For a course that is pretty heavily played I thought that those greens were maintained at a very high level. For a public play course, fairways, traps etc., were all very well maintained. The course has everything from a 613 yd. par 5 to a 115 yd. par 3. I would not categorize it as brutishly tough, yet all levels of golfers with the exception of minimum handicappers, would be amply challenged.
Really nice course
Greens are fast and friendly, the fairways are mowed to a not to short height. We wil play again
wonderful old country club,, a must play
It used to be a private club, the economy has made them open their doors, to the public,,, the maintenance the put forward is outstanding,,, go enjoy the history of a great old design course, that will challenge you and show just how wonderful, these older courses are
Good course, Great people.
The course was nice. Well maintained. The staff was wonderful.
Tree-lined adventure
Immaculate greens; picturesque holes; decision making off tee important; enough sand to grab attention.
Nice course
I really enjoyed this course. I can't wait to play it in the Fall, I bet it's beautiful. It was fairly easy to play but also had it's challenges.
Short but Difficult
The course in general is short, but some holes are fairly long, and decently tight. The greens are quick and have a lot of break. They roll well but the day I went, Labor Day, the holes themselves had not been changed in days. They were the worst I had ever seen: overgrown/ragged. It sounded like they had not been changed since the previous Friday. Overall I like the course. Besides the ragged holes, the course was well maintained. If you tend to spray your drives to the right or left, you may not score well. The price was great; I would play there again.
Dryed and Rolling
The course was dry and very hard, greens were in need of water and herbicide, greens were semi fast, fairways were cut and maintained.
course was fun to play
Course was fun to play and had some challenges and staff was courteous.
Best condition I've seen at Maplecrest!
I've only played Maplecrest a few times, but it was easily in the best condition I've ever seen. Greens are smooth, fairways full and defined, the rough was playable everywhere. Weather has helped, but they are doing a great job maintaining the course. Pace of play was wonderful the day I played...under 4 hours! With the deal I found on GolfNow, I'll easily go back to play again!
Great hot deal price for this course.
The course is a little short only offering three par 5's, but had some long par 4's. course Is in great condition and fun to play.
slope rating is too low
Course played like a 132 slope rating. Very hard, difficult rough and unreasonable pins for a Sunday. Tournament conditions and wet with long thick rough. I will not return anytime soon. Price was right though even though extra fuel was required to get there along with 50 min. one way... GOOD LUCK
Greens are very fast and true
The coarse is tight and long. Bring your A game or you will find yourself chipping out of the trees often. Had a great time and the staff were great!! I will be back
Challenging layout
Challenging course in good condition. Great value for money when booked off tee time special page, Friendly staff.
Fairways greener, greens slower
The drought of 2012 has come and gone and then some. The course has come back nicely. The spring rains have slowed the greens from marble to asphalt making scoring a little easier.
