Opened in 1929, Maplecrest Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Kenosha County. It is conveniently located a surprisingly short drive away from Chicago's northern suburbs. This challenging public course has long been a favorite amongst locals both for the playable design and the affordability. The golf course is relatively flat although there are a few subtle contours that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Watered fairways and fast greens protected by bunkers provide the bulk of the course's challenges though it is still quite forgiving if your shots are slightly errant. It is a course that beginners can approach with confidence but it still has plenty to offer for more advanced golfers. One good example is the difficult green on the sixth hole, which stands out as one of the toughest in the area.

Maplecrest great place to play for the money
The course was well maintained, although most are in the late Spring in Wisconsin. The fairways are tight, and you will pay if you play outside of them. I have no complaints about the course, or staff, however it did take almost 5 hours to play 16 with a cart! This was due to very slow play ahead of us and we were sitting for 5+ minutes on EVERY shot. We even stopped for 30 minutes to eat and have a beer after 9 holes, so the groups ahead of us could get a few holes ahead. We STILL caught up to them after the 1st 2 holes on the back nine and skipped 2 holes ahead of the slow groups, since I cannot play like that.
Great Bloody Mary's
The weather wasn't the best, slight drizzle most of play, the staff was friendly and provided a temporary windshield due to the rain and wind. The course was well laid out, with water on few holes and a few well placed bunkers. It was an overall pleasurable experience considering the weather.
Decent round & course
Course is still coming back from water issues, but is getting better. Has been in better shape in previous years.
should advertise for a greenskeeper!!
in order to create a "tougher" experience, some courses have gone to extremes in an effort to copy the US Open final round's fast, dry greens. unfortunately, to do so purposely with forethought to save money on water, it looks suspicious. near-dead greens running 13 doesn't make for an enjoyable putting experience. I only wonder what the man who was watering the tee boxes one by one thought of the brown greens. hope they get better soon.
this course is a very good value
The course was fine except for some standing water on a couple of holes. Unable to use carts
Great value with Hot Deal
I played this course on Tuesday for 9.99, the regular fees with cart on 18 holes are around $50. The course was not too busy (it was a very windy day) and it is October so there were a lot of leaves, but the greens were well kept and the property itself is beautiful - rolling hills, mature trees, etc. The staff was super friendly. I would love to play this course again on a day that isn't so windy (my approach shot on the 18th was 150 yards, I used my 9 iron and the wind carried the ball 180, over the street!).
Old style club, mature trees, very enjoyable.
Some challenging holes, along with the opportunity to make some birdies. They did well with the drought this year. The greens were smooth and fast. I look forward to seeing the fairways next year if we have some rain.
Nice course
Very nice people and a very well kept course for the price. I will definitely be back.
I don't know what course you are playing. the greens aren't even close to 13. Closer to 9 by superintendent's reading. Water on course has not been turned on yet due to mother nature. Greens are in very good shape (and getting better) for this time of year.
