Great course, will play again!
Very well maintained course with very tough greens. There are no traditional sand-filled bunkers on this course, but grassy "bunkers". Sort of different, but other wise a great course. Fairways, rough, and greens were all in great shape, with the exception of a few minor bad spots on a couple of greens. Nice layout, lots of old trees, and friendly staff. I will definitely play here again, it was a good experience. Note that the course does not have sprinklers, only nature to keep the course green. There has been a lot of rain this year, so everything was fine. I suspect that previous bad condition reviews may have been during a long dry spell.
Not worth it
Just an overall bad experience. Staff could have been more pleasant. Course isn't very well maintained. Greens were alright, everything else was like a cow pasture.
Will not go back.
this course has fair
Staff was not kindly. Some number of hole direction conflict. need direction Sign need that!
Beautiful Course
Very impressed with the course condition. I will definitely be coming back again with me not being a good/avid golfer I was very impressed with the amenities.
Rating
This is a good test of a golfers skills. I think the overall rating ie slope etc is very deceiving
spring at spring valley
Course is in good shape. Fairways good and greens better than average. Will definitely return.
diamond in disguise
I played this course before knowing the history behind it and liked it. After reading the history I can see the resemblances to the Links course at Lawsonia.. (Same design) All it needs is a little TCL.
OLDIE, BUT NO LONGER A GOODIE.
Used to play this course many years agof and it was a diamond in the rough. Good for beginners or those just looking to practice. No sand traps. Fairways are like hitting from your mowed lawn. Wouldn't play it unless it's a bargain hot deal.
conditions
Less than four days after a horrible storm came through, I thought the course drained very well and carts were out.
worth it for the price
this course was not difficult but the challenge was finding the next tee box. no water in ball washes. my advice is to not pay more than 20 bucks and stay to the right on the 2nd hole.
Place is a dump
Course would actually be ok if there was more money in budget----because it is a scenic property with a small lake and mature trees This course is not kept up at all. Tee boxes, rough, fairways, cart paths terrible. No signage where to go. Greens would be ok if anyone would fix there marks. Lumpy dumpy place. Don't waste your money.
The course has no sand, but bunkers.
It was a sunny day, with a good friend, and some good shots.
Throw some seed on the box
I went and the pace of play was very very slow. They need to spread tee times out more. The course is challenging but very open making errors and mis hits easy to play. The tee boxes on nearly all holes were tore up. Very muddy and just not desirable to play on. It hadn't rained in a week so I'm no sure how they are so
Muddy, if they water the boxes you would think they would throw some sand n seed on the tee boxes. The beverages were cold and friendly staff.
Great Course
Challenging course with many mature trees. Greens were fast. Pace was great.
Do not go on the weekends
I've played this course many times and the last two times I've gone was on a Saturday and Sunday.usually Average time to complete 18 is usually about 3-3.5 hours., but the last two times on the weekend have taken over 5 hours. Sunday it took use 2.5hours to get through the front nine. After taking 50 minutes to get through the first 3 holes on the back nine, I decided to pack up and leave.
Greens rolling smooth
Another excellent afternoon at Spring Valley. Great price and always a challenge. The greens were very fast and true. Flag positions were really challenging yesterday with several on tops of mounds. While the overall course conditions (tee boxes/fairways) aren't "pristine" this old school course never disappoints!!
enjoyed
Love this course.. it has its challenges..yet can be played by lesser skilled players
Take a deep breath on #5...
Wonderful "old school" course. Only serious problem is the very long #5 that has an extremely difficult green to hit in reg. You almost always have to lay up and wedge over the water. A six here is a par in my book.
Joe
Tee boxes were bad. Greens were great! Fairways were acceptable.
Joe,
We appreciate your direct feedback. Our 1st priority has always been the greens and I appreciate your positive feedback regarding the greens.
Our tee boxes have always been a challenge, with the amount of play we receive it is really challenging to maintain and grow playable grass on the tees. We will continue to try and get these better in better condition.
As for the value for your money, prices cannot go any lower than what they are currently at.
Thanks again for your feedback
