Nestled between the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea volcanoes, The Village Course at Waikoloa (formerly known as Waikola Village Golf Club) has a beautiful and unique location that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The verdant, rolling terrain is dotted with stands of young trees and lakes that were incorporated into the golf course’s design. Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course’s designer, tried to maintain the natural assets of the landscape while adding a few challenges such as fairways bunkers and doglegs. The golf course also features traditional raised greens that are subject to forceful prevailing winds. Although the course is challenging enough for the serious golfer, the relaxed pace and beautiful scenery appeal to players of all skill levels. Locals often consider The Village Course at Waikoloa one of Hawaii’s best-kept secrets.

No one was in front of us when we started but toward the day were pushed by officials
Great course!
Had a really great day here at Waikaloa. We rented clubs…nice Taylormade clubs in good condition (compared to the beaten up clubs we rented for the same price at Kona Country Club). Pace was perfect, no waiting even though it was busy. Nice variety of interesting holes and very tricky greens. Would definitely recommend.
Great day of golf
We had a wonderful time here playing 18. The weather was perfect and the course was in great shape. When you factor in this friendly customer service focused staff, you can’t help but have fun regardless of how well you play. We will be back!
Great course
Played course for first time, loved it. The staff was friendly and very helpful.. We played the whites which was a little long, the clubs we rented were in very good shape. The staff recommendation on course was helpful. A must play and great value compared to others in the area.
Nice course, bad, unplayable “sand” traps
We enjoyed the course but did not like the “coral”, “pebble”, “rock” or concrete like “no sand” sand traps. There were many traps surrounding the greens etc. but without sand in them, how are you supposed to play them? I guess the answer is to stay out of them, but that doesn’t always work. Who wants to scratch their club up trying ho hit out of them? Or if you putt out, you may or may not hit over the lip. Just didn’t make any sense. I heard they were coral but I expected a soft white powder, not concrete like rocks.
I would never play there again or recommend any else do so unless they replace with sand “ never going to happen” or loan every player a sand wedge to destroy. It was a shame.

Great course for 50$ golf now. Normally between 95$-120$. I would definitely play for under 90$
Beautiful Condition and Views
Played for the first time. Nice layout and great views all around. Pace of play was a little slow, but that’s kind of expected on a Sunday. Sand traps were not sand but small compacted pebbles which I’m not used to. Some of them you could actually putt out of. Highly recommend this course.
