The Village Course at Waikoloa
About
Nestled between the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea volcanoes, The Village Course at Waikoloa (formerly known as Waikola Village Golf Club) has a beautiful and unique location that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The verdant, rolling terrain is dotted with stands of young trees and lakes that were incorporated into the golf course’s design. Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course’s designer, tried to maintain the natural assets of the landscape while adding a few challenges such as fairways bunkers and doglegs. The golf course also features traditional raised greens that are subject to forceful prevailing winds. Although the course is challenging enough for the serious golfer, the relaxed pace and beautiful scenery appeal to players of all skill levels. Locals often consider The Village Course at Waikoloa one of Hawaii’s best-kept secrets.

Great deal and fun course!
Had a great time for a great rate!! No hurry, good pace, finished in 4 hours. Would play here anytime!
Horrible Conditions and Grumpy Staff
I honestly wouldn’t play this course again if it was free. The greens are in absolutely horrible condition. You can tell they aren’t changing the pin location daily because the greens are growing into the holes. They aerated the greens are the complete wrong time of the year and now they are left with incredibly bumpy surface that’s not even worth trying to putt on. None of this was listed on GN or mentioned when I called the course to check the condition. The pro shop was unfriendly and the cart boys seem to think they are the most important people in the world. We got lectured twice from the cart boy. He got all super angry because the golf cart was not in the exact location he expected it. Hey bud, that’s your job, not mine. Told me next time we better park it facing the right direction... or what son... what are you really going to do? Kick us out? Lol. Seriously, this course isn’t worth $10 per round and that’s not even including the 45+ MPH that blow your ball around the fairway and greens. The back 9 isn’t even worth trying to putt unless you can somehow judge the wind moving your ball while it’s rolling. I would get more enjoyment watching my hundred dollar bill burn than that pay for this dog track again.
Great course! Expect the wind!
Beautiful views and beautiful course! Just be prepared for a lot of wind in your face! Loved it overall!
Windy and beautiful
Very windy day. 30-35 mph steady wind. Made for a challenging day. Course conditions were just okay. After 1 1/2 of years of Covid shutdown I was expecting worse though. Greens had been aerated recently do we somewhat slow and very bumpy. My wife enjoyed the course. I played blue and she played red and we were both happy.
Waikoloa Review
Don't know how this course is rated 4 stars. Course is in terrible shape, deadfairways, if you somehow land on good grass it is puffy. Looks nothing like the pictures compared to reality. Wouldn't spend $20 to play a course like this in TX.
A good "muni" course with ocean view
The course is fairly easy even from the tips. Condition is average. Green is slow. Some holes have ocean view which is really nice. With GolfNow hot deal, this is good value. The visitor rack rate is not worth it.
Big Island Day 1
We stayed at a Waikoloa Village resort and have a view of both the Second Hole and the Third Tee.
Not much discount as a resort guest, $5, but a nice savings on a Hot Deal.
Course had some nice views of the nearby volcanos.
Typical resort style course, with fairway bunkers, and many greens protecting the greens.
Course winds through both resorts and residential neighborhoods.
Small pebbles in the bunkers instead of sand.
Great alternative to the high end resort courses charging much more.
Like a well kept Muni.....thats a good thing
Nice layout. Nice staff. “Gold” tee at 5799 yd good for a Senior like me (age 76) but Fwd Red tee too long for my wife at 5501 Yd. Need a more Forward tee..
Enjoyed it.
A nice course, very forgiving. The staff was very friendly and the price was a good value relative to other courses on the island. Course conditions could have been better but they weren’t bad.
