SLOW PLAY
Its getting more and more difficult to finish a round in under 5 hrs
Our Round at Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club
Our round at Bardmoor was a a pleasant experience. Staff was just ok, course was a pretty good layout but the conditions were average. Tee boxes were ok, fairways had had some pretty bare patches here and there and the greens were a bit slow with lots of ball marks. The sand in the bunkers was pretty consistent but it seems like many of them did not get raked after play. Overall I'd rate this course a 7 out of 10.
Beware of Pace of Play
I do not give reviews but I want to warn others to avoid the issues I experienced. 2 player 18-hole w/cart tee time at 3:15pm with sunset at 6:15pm. 6400 yard course from the middle tees. I’m an average golfer (8 to 15 over on standard Par 72 course) as is my girlfriend. In general, if it’s busy, we play best ball to keep up pace of play and/or pair up.
We teed off at our scheduled tee time with the starter but there was ranger. There was a staff employee/cart barn attendant on a cart fishing for balls in-between cleaning carts but said nothing to anyone (other than tips were appreciated when we returned the cart). We finished 9-holes at 6:30pm. There were 4 groups in front of us and we watched the group of 2 players in front of us hit 4 balls off the tee (most unplayable) almost every hole & shot. Called into the Pro Shop to ask if a ranger was on the course to help with pace of play and the attendant simply said “No” and hung up. I asked for a 9-hole rain check after returning the cart and the attendant said, “I’m sorry I can’t do that. It’s not raining and it’s weekend golf”.
I’m not complaining despite wanting to but rather giving a warning of what to expect at this course. If I were advising a friend, I would not suggest this course.
Great course for the price
Greens are fun, good layout.
The different tee off areas could be better marked. There should be a tee for the 6000 range.
All in all I really like this course.
Worth the trip
We played early (7:37am) and 3 of us finished in 3.5 hours. Greens were good and fairly quick. Overall enjoyable course. I would come back.
Nice track
Good course. Was pretty busy but pace kept up. For a Pinellas course it was in good condition. Restaurant was closed when we went but the turn shack was open. Limited menu, but was fine. Range was packed at 11am.
Beyond Slow!
Our 7:52am tee time was 25 minutes behind schedule and with the 7 minute tee times we could see why we had over a five hour round and waited on every tee box without ever seeing a marshal. The club was more interested in the fees more than providing a great golf experience. It was so frustrating.
Way too slow
They have the audacity to have the cart’s GPS system tell you how far behind your play is. Yet they do absolutely nothing to help alleviate the situation. 7 1/2 minute intervals and no rangers just packs the course and brings things to a standstill. Some tee boxes had 3 groups waiting. I like the course but it’s not worth the frustration.
Slow Play
Although the course was beautiful, we had to wait 20 minutes past our tee time because play was so backed up for our 7:52 tee time this morning. Not one Marshall or Ranger was on the course to help move play along. We waited on every tee box for the group in front of us. They were so slow but no one was out making sure play was moving along. How could you have good pace of play if you have 7 minute tee times. It took us 5 hours to play our round. At 7 minute tee times you expect anyone to play a round in 1 1/2 hours. It seems all the course was interested in was collecting money instead of supplying a good golf experience. It was a great course that was disappointing to play.
Continuously Frustrating
My wife and I have played Bardmoor numerous times over the past few years, and our feelings about the course never seem to get better. We LOVE having lunch in the clubhouse prior to our rounds, but too many times we've encountered "issues" while out on the course. The latest, occurring yesterday, involved the marshal working his way up backwards to tell the golfers the pace was too slow. Instead of starting at hole 18 and working back, he apparently started at hole 10 and worked his way up telling the golfers they were going too slow. He completely missed the source of the logjam, which was ahead of us. He eventually came back to apologize once he found the source, but the damage had been done... the enjoyment of our round had been tarnished by his urgings to quicken the pace. We felt we needed to be on the heels of the group in front of us, and the group behind us apparently felt the same. Everyone was hitting balls into the group in front of them. Sadly, too often than not it's been really hard to have fun afternoon of golf at Bardmoor.
Unbelievably Slow
Played today in am, course was packed! Made the turn in 2 hours and 50 mins. Two of our group left in frustration. We continued as a twosome through the 12th hole then decided to stop as it was just too packed and slow.
There are no Marshall's on the course, not sure it would have helped, there were just so many out on the course. Not a good idea to play this course on the weekend!
Used to be
This course years ago was in great shape. Today, unfortunately, that is not the case. The best feature is probably the greens, which are still about average to good. The worst features are the bunkers, which are never, ever maintained, the area around the bunkers, and many of the fairways, with potholes and thin to no grass. There are limited to no bunker rakes, no ball washers anywhere, no marshalls, no divot mix on boxes (on cart if filled), and pace of play is always slow. Staff in the pro shop are nice, and the practice range is large but very busy.
Play is usually pretty slow but the pace was great and it was busy. Course was in good shape also.
