Lake Forest Golf Club

Layoutt is nice. Challenging but not crazy Hard. Decent length from the blue tees. Lots of rolling hills.

The greens are horrible. Matted grass with track marks everywhere. We may try to play again in the spring...if the greens are better.

This course is still in great shape for November and the cost and pace of play is great.

This course has a nice layout and has good variety of terrain. Only negative is several of the greens and tees boxes were in poor condition. 3 of the greens either need to be reseded or needs significant restoration to make playable.

The staff insisted that I share a cart with someone who clearly didn't care for me being a their cart

Greens on first niine need some more work back nine greens excellent . Fairways in good condition very good value. Restaurant great burgers

The greens have been very rough on the front 9 holes for months.

I played there several weeks ago and the greens were in good shape, not the case now. I’m afraid there has been some mess up with a chemical application and have left the greens in bad shape. I hate it for them but it will be a while before I’ll go back there.

This course is a fantastic layout, fun to play, fairways and rough in good condition. That’s the only good thing I have for them. Before my story, I should say that the greens are in TERRIBLE CONDITION. They even lack grass, which is the main material you need on a golf course lol. I went with my girlfriend and only paid for me, because she almost doesn’t know how to hit a ball. We had the 9:48 tee time and got to the tee just in time, the Marshall let 3 groups go before us, which was no big deal. We waited about 20 minutes on the first tee and I let my girlfriend hit around in the first fairway to let the groups in front get ahead of us. Marshal came and said we only paid for one, I told him she only hits a couple shots, he said it was ok. Some holes after, the general manager of the course, which was playing in front of us, came to us and said that “she can’t play”. I told him it was fine and I was sorry. I waited about 10 to 15 minutes in every tee for these guys. Funny thing is that I let a twosome play through so we wouldn’t have to wait too much and be calmer, the GM let them play through but not me. 5 hour round when I usually take 2:30. It got boring at a certain point, there was two tees where their group was getting drinks from the cart girl and I was already on the tee, had to wait for them to ask for the drinks, get the drinks, drive to their balls and clear the fairway. Ridiculous. Will be around Alabama for a while but I’m surely not coming back to this course.

Greens were horrible, bad shape, cart paths need lots of work, price fit the course tho!

We played here before, it was in much better shape, and the past. We have had hot and dry conditions down here, which may have contributed to the causes condition. I could not recommend it at the present time.

Every aspect of playing at Lake Forest is much better than the other local course. Clearly they have done a ton of work on tee boxes, fairways, and the greens. Everything was in great condition and was fun to play. The carts are relatively new and all of the cart paths are in good condition.

Three negatives however are one: there isn’t a proper “turn” so you heavily rely on the beverage cart, but there is a nice restroom at hole ten if needed. The second is the driving range is irons only, which means you are hitting your driver for the first time off the first tee. Third the restaurant at the clubhouse is nothing to call home about. The food is adequate but definitely not a selling point.

All in all, a course worth playing.

Friendly staff. Loved the course. Greens a little slow but in fairness the weather has been unusually hot. Fairways are in great condition. Will be back to play again.
