Great time
Course was in good shape greens little slow do to hot weather and rain a view wet spots in fairways but overall nice course and fast play
Day with Friends
Course in good shape. No beverage girl and course goes all the way out and back so not easy to grab a beer or snack if you forget before teeing off. Staff was courteous while working on course.
Course Advisory
Course Advisory. I had guest who had traveled a distance and they were hurt that an advance notice regarding the greens were being aerated that day and we had to play holes 4 thru 12 twice.
Asst pro
The young gentleman in the pro shop Collin was extremely cocky and areagant when he finally came to the counter. I had to wait 10 minutes!!!
Fun Course
First time playing this course and it was extremely fun. Course was a little challenging but that may have been more of the golfer.
Links Fun!!
Lovely course that you will enjoy! Good clubhouse and driving range is always in good condition. You will find spots that need attention, but they keep this place in good shape. Two bathrooms on the course (one of them you revisit twice) provides good pit stops. They keep ice at the double stop. Water jugs throughout. Always ask if a cart person is on the course because as a links course, you only see the clubhouse when you start and finish.
The greens at Lake Forest are never great, they have the old very grainy Bermuda which is slow in one direction and fast in the other. The layout is very challenging many doglegs, elevation changes, and uneven lies. The 17th hole is challenging and breathtaking. This is one of my favorite courses, if they invested in new greens this would be a $100 course.
Nice fairways - greens fair
The course is short but tight so driver really isn't needed aside from par 5's. I played tips at a whopping 6300 yards
The course appears to have been designed for golf in the early to mid 1900's and weaves through a neighborhood. I thought the fairways were in good shape but the greens were sanded lightly so I cannot really tell how they usually are. I thought they rolled pretty good considering .The course is well worth playing and is a steal if you get the hot deal- very fun to play with doglegs everywhere. Most players will need extra balls because it is a tight course. I think most of the reviews were a little harsh. I am a single digit handicapper so you choose if I know what I am saying. If I had any complaint I would say directions between holes was unclear and need marked.
Ok for the money in the area
The greens were very inconsistent some were blazing fast a few hadn't been mowed for some time, the fairways were beautifully maintained, mowed that morning during our first round. The tee boxes were well kept. All the courses in the area cost around 120 per round and 170 for an all day rate. This course is in a very large neighborhood wooded scenery and tree hazards. One water hazard towards the end of the course. The play was great some fairways break to the left and some to the right overall a good deal for the money. We did play two rounds and lost more than the usual amount of balls.
Wonderful experience
Had a great time at the golf course yesterday. Everyone was sooooo nice which made the day even better. The tuna sandwich was delicious. Looking forward to the next round.
Coburn Godwin
Golfing at Lake Forest is good. May not be as challenging as some courses, yet offers enough for the average golfer. The greens were in good condition and the fairways were fine for this time of the year. We did not have to rush our game as the course was quite quiet for a Sunday.
Definitely will go there again.
THE DUFFER
Enjoyed playing Lake Forest like I always do. However, the greens are starting to get some of what I call "trash grass" on them. Putting is becoming more difficult and people will quit playing the course if the greens are not taken care of.
