Golfer Reviews
Cumberland
Course was in poor condition. Aerated the fairways, which is not the issue, but did not rake plugs. Any shot in the fairway would either plug, have zero roll, or shoot off in an unexpected direction. They had cut greens but did not blow grass off greens and had clumps of grass everywhere making it difficult to putt at all. Hardly any of tee boxes had markers set up. Pace of play was very slow and no marshal regulating.
Enjoyable Round
Cumberland Lake was an enjoyable day of golf. Located in north central Alabama there was a lot of elevation change with some very scenic views during the round. The staff in the pro shop were friendly and helpful. They used gas carts but no computers on board for yardage assistance so bring your own for accuracy. They do have a decent yardage book but it’s not GPS equivalent.
No beverage service on course but you can bring your own. Greens were in good shape at a moderate speed and good size. Pace of play was never a problem, we were around in 3.5 hours. It was a wonderful day of golf at a modest price.
No Range Balls Again
Great course. Good greens. OK staff. This place could be so good… the course is great but the little things that make the experience of a round of golf great just aren’t there. I’ve played here about 5 times this year at least and they’ve had range balls once. Staff always shrugs it off, “nope, no range balls today.” Frustrating when you want to warm up before the round.
Hidden Gem
Very good golf course! Excellent Value. Enjoyed the round. No frills, but a definite keeper.
Beautiful presentation of golf
Course in great shape considering the rain lately. Greens were perfect in condition and mown height. According to recent reviews I got lucky and got the two cordial ladies that usually run the desk. Owner needs to check himself and the other males running the place. Especially the instance where a guy had to pay full price for his wife to just ride. I understand that lady took the cart seat a full paying customer might have taken if you had a full house. But that customer is now never coming back and many others will not either. Owner you are wrong on this one. But the course is yours to run in the ground your way. You better at least keep them two ladies at the door and the course as prestine as it was today. Also kudos to the other two ladies putting out more landscape flowers. Nice touch.
Small course no par 5s
They do have an have in Greene, which is pretty cool. It’s just a small track good place to go work on irons. All the bars are pretty much drivable if you hit a long ball. They do have a pretty cool island green.
Fun Course
Came from Pensacola for the weekend. It was a busy Saturday 11:40 tee time but we got there an hour early to get practice in. The starter and club staff were pretty cool local people. Great value, would recommend. Bring cash for the cash only beverage cart - no outhouses on the course, so ladies - ya know ...
Super fast pace of play
Great course and pace of play was great. Course was in really good shape even after a few days of rain. Would definitely recommend it and go back.
Improved Condition!!
Cumberland Lake is MUCH improved from my previous times of playing there! It has probably been about a year or maybe longer, and I could really tell a difference. I can't wait to go back and may go next week!
Awful pricing
Decided to take my wife to watch me play, and it cost 50$ just for a rider. On top of this 18 and cart price was 50$ (up from 38$ last time I played). The course was poorly managed in way to many areas to justify 50$ to play. I asked proshop why rider was 50$ if they're not playing and they were very rude about it and their reasoning was " cause riders take up space on golf cart". I'm already paying for the cart, it's just me and my wife. I can play at Ross Bridge for the price they charged me at Cumberland. This course used to be well managed and fair priced but has severely went downhill in recent years. I will not be back at Cumberland until it's managed better and pricing changes.
30 minute delay. Not enough carts… no pace of play
30 minutes behind tee time. Not enough carts. Horrible pace of play. 5 hour round. Plus the delay
