One of the best in the Huntsville area
If you are a golfer, Cherokee Ridge is a must course to play. The course architecture is excellent. It is interesting, in some places, exciting to play for all levels of player capability. The better a player you are, the more you will enjoy the course. It is very tough on beginners.
Fairways and greens are very well maintained. Many north Alabama golf course managers are incapable of growing grass on the their fairways. Cherokee Ridge agronomists know how to grow grass and maintain their fairways. On Cherokee Ridge, if you find a fairway with decent power, you will have a viable chance to score. That's all a golfer can ask for.

Only thing i would critique was the greens were different speeds, was hard to know speed

Only thing I see is there is no markers, it’s a little hard to find what hole is next.
Even if they had a map on score card would work.

Awesome
This was my first time ever playing golf on a course. Luckily I was the last one, so I could take my time. I ended up going to the 10 first, so I got caught in with everyone else. That was my bad, but I wasn’t able to figure out where to go as a newbie. Still, everything looked and felt amazing. Will be back!

Tee sheet chaos
I booked a prepaid reservation as a single through the golf courses own website. I showed up 1 hr before my tee time and after I checked in and started hitting balls I found out that the greens had been punched. It wasn’t stated on the website and it wasn’t mentioned when I checked in. At my tee time I was waiting at the #1 tee box for the rest of the group I was paired with. Two foursomes came up to the tee box and explained the at they were part of the morning tournament and they were playing through. I called the proshop. They informed me that I needed to come back to the clubhouse and give up my cart because they were 4 tee times behind and none of those foursomes had been given carts yet. I then asked if the rest of my foursome had arrived and I was then told I would be playing with 4 other players because they had booked for 3 and brought 4. So we would be playing as a fivesome. It was about this time an OSP came in and said he gave two carts to a 4 some. And when the exasperated lady behind the counter asked what tee time he gave themto he shrugged and said he had no idea. At this point looking at a minimum of 45-min to an hour before I could tee off and a 5+ hr round looming ahead of me. I called it quits and left. I was given a rain check. But after driving an hour to get there I was pretty frustrated with how things turned out. It’s a shame because what little I saw of the course looked nice. The staff there needs better leadership and supervision. I recommend you skip this one till they get it worked out.
We apologize for the negative experience you had at our golf course. We are sorry that there was a lack of communication regarding the condition of the greens and the confusion with tee times and carts. Horrible Greens
The second worse course I have played this year. The greens were covered with sand and holes. No way you could putt and that is the best part of my game. If you are not a single handicap golfer DO NOT play this course. My entire foursome is almost 80 years old - the course was WAY TOO LONG and that was from the front tees. It is not FUN when it takes 3-4 shots to get to the green on a par 4.
I have many more observations but I am out of time
The course aerified on July 31st and August 1st that is why the greens where sanded and covered with holes. That is also why you payed a lesser rate. The forward tees measure 5086 which is on the shorter side for most Championship style golf courses.
Happened to play it the day after they aerated the greens.
