Say what?
Only reason staff got three stars rather than five is what said to me when I went to get my cart
Staff inside pro shot was friendly and welcoming and when he gave me the receipt told me to tell the gentleman outside I made an online booking.
I did that but then was scolded that "because you're just a single, if we were busier, I would send you home and tell Golfnow to refund your money. They (Golfnow) know we don't take singles."
I just wanted to play and did so. But I did call Golfnow about that treatment. I travel often and have booked as single many times with Golfnow and have never been treated like that.
If the course felt that way then it should have let Golfnow know. Furthermore, I was not the person that employee should have had an issue with. All I did was call Golfnow to book a round.
PS. I've played that course at least 20 times the last couple years and like it. But if they ever treat me like that again I'll tell every local golfer I know to avoid playing there. It was total bush league.
Good day in the sun
Played Skippack first time in many years nice course not overly long but at my age 69 I don't need that, fairways and greens in very good shape.tee boxes were a little beat up could use some work. The greens are very undulating and some are two tier only A few flat greens . If you plan on playing there come early it gets very crowded .
Never a bad day for golf!
Great day! Course was in good shape of early spring. Paired with another set of players, good jokes, fun afternoon. Didn't care for the slower play of a walking threesome with their dog! It's a golf course!
not worth for 5.5hr pace
I knew this is not the most fancy course, but not the worst. However pace of play is too slow, and not worth to spend 5.5hr to finish 18holes.
I quit after 10 holes, and likely not going back to skippack.
Overall, pretty short course, lot of trees, elevation change, worst tee boxes, challenging green undulation.
Good value and vistas and good layout but needs hole directions
Good value and layout except for par3 with bridge access not given hole to hole directions overall very nice
pin positions
Sloped greens with poor pin position. Rough around greens splotchy and dry.
Don't bother
Played this course on a Friday afternoon in October. Course was not in good shape. Brown spots all over, and on top of it, rough had not been cut in a while. Fairways are close together on some parts of the course, so it was common to have folks from neighboring holes hitting off our fairway. Best part about this place is the nice patio/restaurant. Probably wouldn't play here again.
Bring A Ball Finder With You
Having played the course for the first time Labor day Weekend was fitting. Now I know why the pace of play is so slow. Everybody is spending so much time trying to find their ball it backs everything up. I can't tell you how many balls I hit that landed just a few feet from the center of the fairway that bounced and rolled right off and into the woods. I guess you have to hit a little left to be rewarded? I never saw so many golf balls in the woods when I was looking for mine several times. Holes too close. Almost got hit with balls several times from golfers playing different holes. I never quit at anything, but after getting burnt at hole 12, to then play the ridiculous cow pasture 13th hole had me and my two sons ready to find the exit to sanity. Never been more exhausted playing a round of golf in my life. I thought this course would be a good fit with my two sons. (Short course, State Park) Save your money and go to a course that is a little more forgiving and a lot less tedious and frustrating.
Skippack Course in Great Shape
This was the first time that I played at Skippack and it was a very nice course. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. I will definitely return to play there more often.
Decent Course -- too SLOW
Course was overbooked on a Sunday and we sat and waited on every hole. Course was in nice shape -- particularly fairway and greens (where it matters most!).
Not a bad choice
I've heard a lot about this course and I have to say that over all my experience here was above Par and I would play this course again...
Nice Course in a State Park Setting
This course is a tale of two nines. The front 9 is mostly open. There is no water but lots of sand. Most of the bunkers could do with some fresh sand; several are more like dirt than sand.
The back 9 is more tree-lined and hilly. It's beautiful, but several of the back 9 holes require an accurate tee shot. The course is walkable. You'll definitely get a good workout. The times I've played there isn't a on-course cart person, but there is a nice grill at the turn.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has good food and nice patio. My only complaint is that the service from the kitchen is very slow.
Overall a good course at a great price.
nice friendly course
Loved the course. Everyone was so friendly. In the afternoon they had many young golfers with coaches that held things up...but once we passed them it was great.
Course has seen better days
I have golfed at this course more than any other course in my short golfing experience.
I love the course for being a municipal course in a state park. Its a pretty course and I enjoy playing it. Good pace of play. In all the times I golf here, there is ALWAYS something that leaves a bad taste in my mouth for the day.
1. People play balls that do not belong to them.
2. Course is FULL of divots all over the place.
3. Tee boxes are DESTROYED
4. The starter at this course is rather inhospitable.
5. Geese EVERYWHERE and not afraid of being in the way.
6. Sometimes difficult to know where the line of play for a hole is. The course map is not very descriptive to the actual holes.
Positives:
1. The par 3s are great holes.
2. Some beautiful scenery.
3. The par 5s are challenging.
A challenging course that rewards well placed shots
Played Skippack for the first time and the course was in pretty good condition. The greens could use a little additional care or maybe people could fix their balls! The par 3's where dimpled and needed to be rolled. The staff was friendly and provided a very nice player book for the course that made play easier. The driving range could use some work the ball machine ate $3 dollars before it give us some of the smoothest dimple free balls I have ever seen. Starter got us off on time and paired my twosome with two other golfers. They where walking but it did not slow us down too much; we were in a cart. The problem came at the turn we where 2 hours for the front nine which for a Saturday was pretty good. We had two walkers play nine starting on 10 and they caught the foursome ahead of them at 12. We waited 10-15 minutes on each tee from the 13-17 which also happen to be the most difficult holes on the course as well. Our walking partner left after 14 and the four behind us quit on 16 the staff did nothing to pick up the pace of play even though peopled called from the tees to complain. In all I'll be back just not on the weekend.
Of note the greens play like they are Bermuda you need to read grain and slope to make putts drop.
Nice course
Nice well kept, very forgiven with friendly and helpful staff at a reasonable rate what else could you want.
Nice course
The course is really beautiful and in very good shape. It's very hilly so not a great course to walk unless you're in great shape.
Terrible Conditions for May
Just played here and the course was in the worst shape I've ever seen it. Greens were inconsistent and rough was not evenly cut.
Skippack
Good course for the money, however pace of place makes it very difficult. Behind a group of 2 that held everything up for the rest of us. Took forever to even get thru 9, paid for 18 but after waiting and waiting we got discouraged and ended only after nine. Course would be better if pace of play was better.
Good round
Pace of play was terrible, staff did. Nothing to try and speed it up
