Hilly, open course
Nice open fairways , challenging undiuating greens. Some traps, minimal water hazards
Greens
course was in bad shape, especially the greens
Greens
Greens were horrendous and I felt like I was putting in a sandbox, otherwise always a good value course
Very Disappointed there were aerating
I wish they would have said something about aerating the entire front 9 before I booked it. I raced there to fit in all 18 holes before it got dark. When I paid at the course they told me we had to play back 9 twice. It was so backed up it took 5 hours and we didn't finish... I would have played some other place, but we did not have enough light to go someplace else. I love booking online, but this is the exact reason why you should always call first.....
First round of the year.
8:00 tee time. Just two of us. Foursome ahead didn't really hold us up. Nobody behind us.
Course was in pretty good shape for March.
Why don't more people fix ball marks on the green? Just wondering.
Nice short track
Short course with very reachable par 5's, but a couple longer par 3's which are always annoying :) Course was in good condition especially for being the first weekend of spring, but some holes have multiple cut holes on each green which seemed odd. Overall a nice day.
One big con for me was that the course was not marked very well as far as how to get to some tee boxes. Had to constantly check the back of the card to see where to go.
Great Value
Very nice public course. Considering the time of year it was in great condition. Some challenging holes and tough greens. Good test for a moderate golfer.
Needs some work
The tee boxes, fairways, and greens all need some work. The tee boxes look neglected. The practice green was awful looking. Sand traps also need to be refilled. I like going to skippack golf course as I worked there during college. It takes me back going there. The course needs some money sunk into it. I don't think they get the play to justify the investment though. It's a catch 22. Not a bad course for a practice round though.
Not again
I find that this course plays incredibly slowly - nearly always. During this visit (likely my last), I know it is still winter, I found the course just not ready for play. As expected there were no functional ball washers on the course, but during a week where the temperature was 60 or above you would think that they could have at least had tee markers out. They were moving cup locations during our round and the greens were ugly. Sorry, I will only play this course again in a dire emergency. Oh, did I mention that the sand traps on this course are as bad as I have ever played - this too is not an aberration - they always stink.
Summer Golf Came Early
Great day for golf. Temps in the 70s.
The course was in pretty good condition especially considering how early in the season it is. No tee markers out yet so we used our best guess for teeing off. Rotating hole/flag positions also helped keeps things nice. Nobody seems to fix their ball marks on the greens and the greens haven't been rolled yet but all things considered it was pretty good. Except for 12, 13 and 14, the course is just as it seems and is very playable - fun even.
Enjoy your round, I always do at Skippack! Oh, and grab a hot dog at the turn from the outdoor grill, they're really good. It wasn't opened during our round bur we've had them before and our mouths watered thinking about them around the 7th hole.
Give the sand bunkers some love
The course was in good shape considering it is December-BUT this course needs to clean up its sand bunkers to make playing here more enjoyable
First time playing here, enjoyed the course
Very short course, most holes fairly wide open. Undulating, fast greens are the test here.
Fine Course -Quick play
Course was in very good shape. Greens were fast, even though they had been plugged and sanded. Play was fast 3.5 hours for 18 holes. With GolfNow rate of $19, couldn't pass it up.
An average course, some good points, some not.
First time playing here in over 20 years, so it's practically new to me. The holes are still close together, paralleling each other. We were an early morning tee time so we didn't have players in our fairways but I'm sure on busy days there's quite a bit of that.
Greens were in good shape, Bunkers aren't well maintained, and the tee boxes are way too small. You end up teeing up where it's all dug up, or we just tee it up elsewhere. Fairways were ok as well.
The layout is not too bad for being tight. Up Hills, down, doglegs, so from that perspective it was a pretty enjoyable round.
The outdoors grill was open in October, which was nice. The counter help was welcoming, but the starter was like a grumpy drill sergeant even though it wasn't busy. So that's why we knocked it down. I was there before he arrived and was using the putting green waiting for my partner and he yelled at me. I chuckled but it was rude. Dude needs to get a life.
so It's not a bad course, and an interesting enough layout. It won't dazzle you, there aren't beautiful views or anything notable, but it's one I'd play if my friends wanted to. I wouldn't choose it on my own as there are many other really good options in this area for the same or better price.
18 holes in Cold & Wind
This course was well maintained. Fortunately, not many people braved the weather so we had the course to ourselves, for the most part.
This course is great we will be back. It was more challenging since this was our first time playing there but it is definitely a course I would like to play multiple times.
Hot Day
Played with a former pro inline skates hockey player just taking up the game. He played very well. I broke s hundred also which is good for me.
Greens and tees in great shape. Foursome didn't let the twosome ahead of us through so it was a long afternoon.
Take the good with the bad
There's a lot to like about this course, but there's also not so great things...
The good: the course is in excellent condition, some bunkers were very hard but you'll find that on lots of public courses. The food at the turn was awesome with a lot to choose from. The alcohol variety was great too and very fairly priced. We also paid $20 for a tee time on a Sunday morning with a voucher they offered which is quite the deal!
The bad: Pace of play - yes it was the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, but 6 hours?!?!? C'mon! We were backed up four deep on some of the back 9 holes. No ranger moving anything along and they stacked tee times which is never good. The starter wasn't much help and was grumpy too. No sense of humor. Sorry we were inconveniencing him by trying to golf. Then actually one thing I forgot until I saw the picture was the most utterly dumbfounded hole I've ever played. It was either 11 or 12, a short par three. The hole has geese all over the place. Not sure what the course could do about it, but it should be something it was nearly unplayable. Then to get to the green if you're riding you must drive through the woods then get around and walk across a bridge that goes up and down and across. It was asinine. I hit mine short of the green on the other side of the water and after leaving my cart, had to take a good two minute walk to my ball. The course also has many holes on top of each other on the front 9, we had to dodge lots of balls, and yell fore quite often, and/or have another ball on our fairway or vice versa.
In conclusion, I don't know that I would play it again and definitely not for full price. It was a challenging course for more reasons than just the lay out. Would recommend for a good deal if played on maybe played on a less crowded day.
This course has a few tough holes and a few very easy holes for the average player.
I played this course the morning after a severe rainstorm and every bunker was unplayable. If you hit your ball into a bunker, a drop out and around the bunker was needed. One of the par 3 holes was closed for the day.
Average Public Course
Course was pretty well taken care of and the staff was very nice. Would recommend to anyone to play the course.
