Lake Arlington Golf Course
About
Owned by the city of Arlington, this course has been around since 1963–it’s located on the north edge of Lake Arlington and surrounded by native trees and wildflowers. Ralph Plummer designed this easy course, incorporating little water and no bunkers.
The first hole is one of the most difficult, playing over 400 yards into a dogleg-left fairway dominated by a huge pecan tree. Holes 13 and 14 play near the lake–the 13th goes 389 yards uphill and doglegs right, and the 14th measures 240 yards downhill to a green protected by water on the left side. Even though it’s a long par 3, there is a dramatic drop from tee to green.
Getting there : From Dallas, take I-30 west and exit East Chase Pkwy. Turn left, travel about 4 miles, and you'll come to the intersection of Spur 303 and Green Oaks Blvd.

course was in great shape, Great Easter .
played Easter Sunday and started out a little cloudy then the Sun came out and it was a beautiful day to golf
This course needs a driving range, and I would have no complaints.
I hesitate to book courses under $30 on golf now because generally u get what you pay for. Lake Arlington was definitely worth every penny, and I will be back. We did have to change out our cart a few times with one that was charged up, but they came out very quickly. All this course needs is a driving range and there would be nothing to complain about. Overall great experience, very courteous staff, and the course will challenge you if you let it, I mean come on 245 yd par 3 into 30 mph wind, it was a tough day, but we enjoyed it.
Better courses for the $ during dormant time.
Course was very hard and greens were not the best. I know that it is still dormant weather and we are coming around, but I have played several times during the months of March and February, and have found several courses better to play. Wait to play this course, middle spring and on it is a good course, just not right now. Better courses below.
A little tough
I had not played here since the early 1990's and was pleased to see that the course was still in fairly good shape. For this time of year in Texas we couldn't have asked for a better day to play. My only gripe is that it backs up at the last par 3 on the course where you might wait 15 minutes to tee off. Other that that we had a great outing and look forward to playing there again!
Even the fairways were green.
Even the fairways were green. You can tell the grass was watered daily.
overbooked, understaffed
Our tee time was delayed over 20 minutes due to overbooking and allowing extra golfers to play with registered groups. Our cart had a flat tire by the third hole. However, since the course was so full (Sunday and excellent weather) there were no extra carts until we reached hole 9. Play was slow, but pleasant and relaxed. All in all, it's a nice course, they just seemed to be a little over extended on staff and gear.
My cart died on 15
Everything was going great when all of the sudden my cart decides to die on the 15th hole. It didn't have enough juice to finish the course, so I took it back to the clubhouse. It was getting dark so I didn't have enough time to get a new cart and go back out there, but had my cart not died I would have had enough time to at least do 2 more holes. The course is descent, not the most challenging, but you get your moneys worth. I also wish they had a driving range, and more practice chip areas. They take good care of the grass, and the staff is very nice. I will definitely go back.
Good day.75 deg. shot 85
good day for golf.26 mph wind. Met Johnny and Mike. Cpl of good guys, had a good time
Well maintained course for a heavily use public course.
When playing this course you don't need to bring your sand wedge because it does not have any sand bunkers. It does have other hazards such as water, trees, unmaintained rough etc. The layout and the topography is very pleasant. The length of the course is good for a midrange player. I like the par 3 -14 hole. The tee box is on a side of the hill next to and looking out to Lake Arlington and overlooking the green 200 yards away. There is enough dog leg fairways on the course that a player that knew how to shape shots would do well. I will play the Lake Arlington Course again.
good value good challenge
course starts out easy then gets more challenging. Some of the par4's you can leave the driver in the bag if you have a good 3 wood. The greens are fast for winter and undulations all over the place. Go play this course.
Very fun layout
It had been a long time since I played this course and after 4 holes I was wondering why it took me so long to get back here. Lake Arlington is a great little course to play and enjoy the game of golf. Right now with the "winter greens" putting was a challenge but overall course is in good shape. Dont not get off the fairway very far ground is hard but fairways are very nice to hit off of. Holes 11 thru 14 are very interesting one of my favorite strecthes of hole on the course. I recommend this course to the golfer starting out it will test you and make you better but also to any other golfer that wants a very enjoyable round of golf. Staff was great and the people I met playing were a real joy very nice folks. Go play it you will enjoy it.
new favorite course of our foursome
This course is in great November-December shape, the best I have seen. Amazing price, friendly staff. We played 36 and had a great time. Definitely the new course for my foursome.
Lake Arlington Golf Course (Arlington, Texas)
The course is in good condition. The greens are not as smooth as I have seen in the past, but they are good also.
A Good Muni
Lake Arlington is almost two different courses - the front 9 is relatively flat with a couple of interesting holes - particularly 8 and 9. Since I'm a lefty, #8 doglegs perfectly for my fade - provided I don't hit too much club and go through the fairway. That means both #9 and #18, with their dogleg right and tee boxes on the right, give me trouble - I usually hit a tree down the right hand side.
The back 9 has a good bit of elevation change culminating with #14 at the top of the hill - a good view inside the lake from here. Fun, long par 3 with plenty of trouble behind the green - I usually end up hitting too little club. #15 starts out of a narrow tree lined shoot, but ends up as a rather bland par 5 if you hit your drive in the fairway.
I found course conditioning to be consistently good even though things can be a little too wet for my tastes.
Plenty of tee selections here - I have moved up to the whites since I always hit a 3-metal off the tee.
I believe every par 3 goes in a different direction and takes a different club.
Overall, an enjoyable routing.
the course was a great deal for what i paid, but with a little attention to the course it would be very nice.
The course was okay for a city maintained course..
A Little Disappointed
Expected a bit nicer course. Staff exceptionally friendly. Nice course for a quick round in a pinch.
aced #7 again
hole in one on #7 for the second time. 140 yds. at age 44 hit a pitching wedge, at age 64 now it was an 8 iron..aint age GREAT....don't really like that tee box cause it's real sandy under the grass....37/42 still managed to get it in the 70's
everything is great about this course,
nothing like playing a professional course in your own backyard, i only live a couple of minutes away and to have a fully professional faucility that close, this challanging, and i can take my time and relax and play, by the way im a very slow player, i like to enjoy my expierences, is wonderful.
Great course with great layout.
I love everything about Lake Arlington Golf Course. Everyone there is mostly pleasant or professional. My experience today (Oct. 24th) was an exception. The girl/lady at the snack bar was very dismissive and almost seemed bothered to help me. Any snack bar attendant will never be the deciding factor of whether I play a course or not. I'm just letting you know where the improvement can come from. Having said that, and that being the only setback, this course and it's staff is great!
wide and forgiving fairway. green are in excellent condition. course isbvery well taken care off.
great course to play. back 9 have beautiful layout .
