Lake Arlington Golf Course
About
Owned by the city of Arlington, this course has been around since 1963–it’s located on the north edge of Lake Arlington and surrounded by native trees and wildflowers. Ralph Plummer designed this easy course, incorporating little water and no bunkers.
The first hole is one of the most difficult, playing over 400 yards into a dogleg-left fairway dominated by a huge pecan tree. Holes 13 and 14 play near the lake–the 13th goes 389 yards uphill and doglegs right, and the 14th measures 240 yards downhill to a green protected by water on the left side. Even though it’s a long par 3, there is a dramatic drop from tee to green.
Getting there : From Dallas, take I-30 west and exit East Chase Pkwy. Turn left, travel about 4 miles, and you'll come to the intersection of Spur 303 and Green Oaks Blvd.

Sadistic Pin Placement
I love playing Lake Arlington, and usually enjoy the greens, but Saturday's play was a bit on the side of unfair. On one hole the pin was placed on the side of a slope. Three of us were putting for par, all within ten feet, a couple of us within six. The first guy putted to within six inches of the hole. The balled stopped, hesitated, and then rolled back six feet. Same thing for the second guy. And the third! We each ended up with either double bogie or triple bogie. Challenging pin placements are one thing; unfair placements are another. Similar placements on other holes. Left a bad taste in our mouthis (for this particular day).
Great course for the price
I played on a Sunday afternoon and only paid $20. Started at 3:45 and finished before 7:30 with a threesome. The greens are in good condition and the layout and length seem to be able to challenge any type of golfer.
The course was in very good shape considering the weather.
The fairways were in very god shape and the greens rolled very well.
This course is a good score builder, no sand traps and not many hazards.
Course is in great shape for August with the rains we have received. Greens roll true. There are not sand traps or many hazards on the course, although some of the fairways are pretty tight with trees lining both sides. A pretty good test of all of the clubs in your bag.

Nice golf cousre to learn to play the lack of bunkers is great for beginners
Course in great shape
Course in grear shape considering the hot weather.9
Great Time
Really enjoyed the course. The fairways were in great shape. Great value for the price.
Great beginner course
Just started playing golf three months ago. Great course for beginners. Wide fairways and no sand traps.
Fun course, a little hectic at times.
Lake Arlington was a very fun golf course. It has a few interesting holes on the back nine, and it was a good challenge for me (beginner). Everything was fine with the staff and the course, my only small complaint was traffic flow in a few areas. It is so busy on the weekend that the tee box is a little crowded on hole 1, but after you get moving the pace of play improves. Then there are several holes on the course that are right next to each other where we ended up waiting to tee off because of people playing from our fairway back onto their hole.
This wasn't too much of a concern, but it did slow the pace of play a few times when we had to wait for several players in a row to get back on their fairway.
Overall a fun course and I'll be back!
Great course! Fun time!
This course is great for golfers of all skill levels. It is very well maintained and enjoyable to play! The tee times are well spaced apart and I will be returning.
Nice greens
Very well maintained course with nice terrain. Nice views of lake on back nine.
Really good downhill par 3 on backside
Narrow, Tree line course that requires accuracy on majority of the holes
Great municipal course
This is one of the better municipal courses around. Greens are in great shape.
For a city course....not bad.
This is pretty much a typical city muni. They have limited land to work with, so I give them a break on that. Overall, not a great test if you're a high caliber player. However, from the back tees, all the par 3's are excellent tests. Not real creative holes, but again, not much to work with. Playing in mid July with excessive heat, I was surprised that the fairways and greens were in good condition.
If you're a really good player, this is a good course to simply work on your game. For what you get vs. what you pay, I'd say this course represents fair value.
good course but slow play was an issue
In all good fun but would have been much better if play would have been faster.
Will come back!!
Nice course, not too hard but challenging enough. No sand what so ever. Greens a bit tough to read. GOod value for under $30
bad turf...challenging greens
The turf was awful-plain and simple. Getting appropriate distance on shots was difficult because of the turf. Also, there was no real differentiation between the fairway and the rough...both were equally terrible.
That being said, the greens were quite challenging (lots of undulation). I enjoyed that part of it, as it allowed for some really competitive putts. There are a lot of trees which make for some difficult shots
I didn't like that my father and I were paired up with another duo. I probably won't play this course again unless I have my own foursome that I know will keep a decent pace.
This course has some great views and a good layout.
The course is in good shape, well manicured and greens were holding very well, putting true and fairly easy to read. It seems as though some of the huge trees are crowding the tee shots a bit more than last time I played here, but it makes for a more challenging tee shot. Overall I had a good day for me, scoring 44/40 and the weather was great.
Good honest review. I like that. Just a heads up though. Every course you go to (depending on time of day and day of week a twosome will not get paired with another group but for the most part what I am about to say is accurate) will pair twosomes together. I play solo and last week I was paired with a twosome, and another solo. The solo and I were younger and decent off the tee around 230-250 (not straight but still) while the twosome was older and shorter off the tee. I hit my 3H the same distance as the older gent hit his driver just to give you an idea of the difference. They were slow but supper nice so the round was fun. Hope to golf with you someday. I play ready golf so I keep a good brisk pace.
