Riverchase Golf Club

About
One of Jim Fazio’s first solo projects, Riverchase is a surprisingly tough challenge given its lack of trees and relatively short length. The course runs through the bottomlands of the Elm Fork Trinity River and is loaded with water due to a chain of interconnecting lakes created to collect heavy rains and irrigate the course. While there are no forced carries, water comes into play at least 12 holes, and out-of-bounds is a frequent concern because of the housing community that surrounds the course.
No. 5 is the most difficult rated hole–a long dogleg right par 4 that requires a solid tee shot to be in position to reach the green in two. The approach is long and uphill into a severely back-to-front sloping green with a lake on the right and out-of-bounds and bunkers on the left.
Two holes later, No. 7 is one of the toughest approaches in all of DFW. This hole plays due south into the prevailing wind, and the elevated green has a depth of only about 25 feet. Bunkers line the back, and the slope in front is significant. Ups and downs are difficult because of the slopes in the green. Take a look at the pin placement when you’re teeing off on No. 4.
The good news is that other than out-of-bounds, the course is mostly wide open, so you’ll generally have a shot if you just miss the fairway. The only thick spot for trees is along the creek on holes 14-16.
Getting there : Take the Belt Line exit off of 635 and drive north to MacArthur. Turn right (east) and drive to Riverchase Dr., where you’ll turn left. Look for the course on the right side of the road.

Needs Help
I typically enjoy this course but it’s been neglected this summer. Weeds, dead patches, over-watering, cracks in the ground, no drinking water on the course, no beverage cart attendant- what’s going on? There’s a Help Wanted sign up and I hope they get some soon.
Great work being done
Great value for the price. You can see the effort and work being done to bring this course back. Course definitely still has its issues but steadily improving.
This course was tough!
After I saw the reviews I was pleasantly surprised that the reviews were a little misleading. It wasn't in that bad of shape. It was a tough course. Valleys, creeks, and hills to deal with. The staff were very polite.
Fun course but needs some work
Staff is great and the course is an old classic, but it needs some work. There were tall weeds around some of the greens that just made it look run down when it is in a nice town. Also 10% of the cart path was unusable. The last time I played the course was in great shape, just curious why it looks like it did. Still fun to play though.
More positive than negative
The good: great value for the money. Course layout is good. Pace of play was excellent. Staff was friendly. Pro shop had some nice stuff. I like that there’s a bar.
The bad: a few greens need some TLC. There were absolutely no water jugs on the course (was pre-warned before play and hey had cups you could fill with water. The grill/bar didn’t open until 10. Some areas of the cart path desperately need repair.
Overall, it’s a pretty nice course to play. Challenging enough to keep you honest. I’d definitely play here again and I’d recommend it to others
Cart path only
There had been rain the previous day and the course was cart path only. It wasn't that wet and the cart paths are a disaster, most of them crumbling. The greens were in decent shape but the fairways hadn't been mowed in a while.
Could be a really nice course if it were maintained.
Wasted Potential
This course could be outstanding, but current ownership and/or management is destroying it. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and cart paths are in horrendous condtion. Greens surprisingly ok. The layout is interesting, playable, and could be beautiful. But won't be back until some one invests in this course. Too many other better options at similar price point.
Sprinkler system poor maintenance becoming a issue
Standing water from sprinkler system maintenance becoming a problem, multiple fairways. Lots if mud and mosquitos

My round at Riverchase
Good for the price coarse is very bumpy, tee boxes are hard to get a tee in the ground but again not bad for the price.
Riverchase
Course was in pretty good shape. The cement cart paths have not been maintained and were all torn up. Because of the rain, the day before, it was cart path only.
Not Worth It
The fairways and greens were in terrible condition. The cart paths are the worst I have ever seen! Probably won’t be back unless they do some serious work.
