Ready for county money
Looking forward tp sale of low lying areas to find bringing this nice scenic layout into excellent condition
Awaiting renovation
Hoping that money from the county for sale of low lying portions of the course can be used to bring this excellent and scenic layout into first class condition
Only complaint
Had to swap carts after front nine, and the next cart died on us and the staff had to bring us another cart. We noticed three other abandoned carts along the course, so we definitely wasn’t the only ones who had an issue. Only other issue was that they need more signs directing from hole to hole. Got lost trying to get to the 5th hole at Palmetto. Other than that, it was great.
Hey I get It.
Had a Great Time . Course was in good shape. Staff could be a little more friendly but hey I get it. 4 beers and 2 bloodymarys cost more than the golf green fees but Hey I get it. I'll still be back for more.
Need new management
This place needs new management, and a new golf pro.
I am not a golf snob by any means, but compared to the courses I’ve been too both in Minnesota, and the Houston area (I’ve lived in Longwood community for over 4 months), Longwood has set the bar so low.
Aside from the course conditions which aren’t the greatest, but okay, the golf Pro is an absolute jerk, and seems so inconvenienced anytime he needs to address a customer in the pro shop.
When we first moved here, I signed my kids up for a thanksgiving camp, which was basically just the pro watching them hit golf balls. Little to no instructional, or attempt to make it fun for my 12 and 7 year old, it was basically a daycare on a golf course which my 12 year old was regretting going, and I would have rather saved my $300, just seemed like a convenient money grab for the pro and course.... my kids are now at the sterling academy youth program at Houston National golf course, offers everything in their program which the pro Kelly did not at his “camp”
However, I do want to give Recognition to the younger gentlemen who work the pro shop during the weekend, and randomly during the week, they are friendly and show appreciation for the business we bring them, and are very genuine, and want to give us a good experience.
Management issue:
I don’t know who manages this place, but there are a number of issues in which if I was running those operations, I would adress immediately.
I am a part of the loyalty membership program, which gives me free range balls, and discounted golf, and today marks the third straight time I’ve arrived to the course, and have been unable to hit range balls, all within the last 2-3 weeks. All 3 times have been For different reasons, none of which were weather related, but availability of range balls.
If the range was closed due to weather, I would understand, but at 1pm on a 75 degree day, you tell me range balls are out, or their being cleaned, or inventory is short, inexcusable for a golf course in my opinion. This is the only course which I’ve ever experienced range ball shortages at, and to have it happen 3 straight times is just poor management. You have the equipment, so make it happen! Also the golf carts are in terrible condition, over half the time I’ve golfed this course either the brakes barely worked, and the steering wheel needed half a rotation before the cart turned. Spend the money to take care of your equipment, or perform maintenance on them if you have a mechanic, like some course do.
They also need more clear directional signage for each course as it’s very confusing if you are not familiar with it, not a huge deal, but since I’m listing opportunities, might as well get it all out.
I really like the layout, hazards, and nature this course has to offer, not to mention it’s in my community! I think it could be a great course, but with all of these issues happening, which are fully preventable from a management standpoint, it will continue to be the butt of jokes. Anytime I tell someone I golf at Longwood, they have nothing but negative comments towards it.
Change the preventable issues, and I’d be more than willing to upgrade my membership, and be proud to live by this course. Until then, I’m using my membership only at cypress lakes, which shows care by ensuring they are managing what they can control, and providing a good experience which I’ve had every time I Golf there.
I’ll still pop in maybe once a month hoping to see some changes, starting at the top, and at the front counter, to see if your course is worth investing more time and money into. Hope you make some good decisions and changes for the good!
I never write stuff like this, but I’m really hoping this message can provide some true observations from an outside perspective and drive some change for the good!

Winds through the trees
This layout drives me nuts. The sharp doglegs are a crapshoot considering the trees. Trimming back some limbs will improve that. The trees help as it did with the two club winds I played. In the heat of the summer, the shade keeps the course cooler. The restrooms and the clubhouse are both top notch. Prices are reasonable.

Cart died…. NO HELP
I will keep this simple…. I walked off the course after waiting 20 minutes with no help. My playing partner had to contact the manager who was not at the facility. Pro shop didn’t answer the phone, so I was literally stuck. Should have brought my stand bag.
Good Layout
I always enjoy playing Longwood. The layout is interesting and there's a good mix of holes that give you different options on how to attack them. The course isn't perfectly maintained by any means but for the price, it's worth checking out. It also tends to not drain well but this time we played on a dry day so no issues there at all. Our cart died on hole 16 and they promptly brought out a new one which was great. However that cart was also dead and we ended up pushing it on 17 and then just walking 18. I'm assuming this is a one-off issue but worth noting.
Bad staff & course
Staff angry and don’t know why it was 55$ the course is clearly not putting the money into the course or the carts. Hard to navigate the course. Signs are far and in between and don’t really show you where to go .
Favorite Course
Been golfing here for 10 years. Love the course, seen it at its ups and downs.
The fairways were beautiful and green, only complaint would be the cart path is terrible and will have you bouncing everywhere banging around your clubs.
