Longwood is allllllll gooooooood!
A little wet in the am but the course was in really good condition. Shot a fun 88
variety of design holes, beautiful tree lined borders
Great improved tee box grass & turf / grass fairways & much improved greens!
Worth Your Time
I feel like this course doesn't drain extremely well but with no rain in the past week, it was great. Sometimes the greens can be a little chewed up but today (aside from a few patches) they were more than acceptable. Tee boxes and fairways were also in excellent shape. Areas outside of the cart path were beat up/hard pan but that's a minor complaint. I'll definitely come back again soon. The water coolers have been removed so be prepared with your own water if you want it.
Longwood
For a first time could have had better signage to direct golfers where to go. Good value for money though. Will go back.
I will play it again
Except for the pace of play I really like this course
Busy Thursday
Unfortunately the pace of play was not there. We Played a single hole before catching the group in front of us. We only stayed for 4 holes total which took 2 full hours. Three groups waiting at every hole...
The clubhouse was gracious and apologetic. We were told that Thursday’s at Longwood are usually busier than Saturday’s.
Overbooked?
Congrats to Longwood
I stopped playing here years ago because the course was close to becoming a goat ranch. It wasn’t worth playing mainly because of the greens were so bad. But... I wanted to play with my son and for $25 hot deal tee time I wasn’t expecting much. Before I get on with my review, A well deserved high five and Fist bump to whoever is in charge of those greens. Please buy a beer for your maintenance crew as I’m sure they’ve been working their tale off in this heat keeping the course in great shape. It’s in the best shape I have ever seen it in. Keep up the good work and don’t let up. After 9 holes we went inside and had some wings and fries that were delicious. Thanks longwood for all the changes y’all have made. I can now feel good about coming back to play here.
Cartpaths to nowhere
Course was decent but greens we're slow as molasses. Signs galore on the cartpaths only leading you to wrong turns. Apparently 3 nines that cross each other. When laying out a course best not to do it while drunk.
Need more golf carts
I was assigned a golf cart to share with another. Being 70 with asthma during covid makes it tough. We both chose to wear face coverings while riding. This was the first time I had to share a cart with a stranger since March. The staff needs to get carts turned around quicker or get some more.
Return from a long absence!!!!
I had played a couple of times at Longwood Many years ago so I was looking for a good deal and found it on golf now.com was impressed with the course it’s overall appearance atmosphere and play ability was good however the greens and as I understand to their defense were recently redone were long and slow when I say long the Bermuda grass was long and the greens were slow I don’t like putting on slow greens so I didn’t like that. The other knock that I have a problem with was the excess grass from mowing was not picked up there was piles of grass around the greens along the rough and so on that you could lose your ball just in the roof right off the fairway because of grass laying on the ground once their mouth grass needs to be picked up. I know it’s a work in progress I’m not sure if and when I’ll go back but I might I thought it was in in very playable and I love the layout that’s why I went back to begin with. Just do something with the greens make them faster make them break when the break is there I know it’s a work in progress keep up the good work
Course play and check-in
First arrived pro shop gentleman was on the phone for 5 mins didn’t even acknowledge me standing right in front of him. Rude to say the least. Course play was backed up and Marshall was nowhere to be found. Waiting 10 mins or more in line at tee box!
