Course needs work
Played Longwood with a friend on a cold Houston day. Course was very wet due to recent rains. Still showing a lot of damage from Hurricane Harvey floods, including many washed out areas and spots with little to no grass. Not sure why but greens were in awful shape, bumpy and many bare patches. Course layout is good with some challenging holes and staff was friendly but course really needs work.
Too High To Low
Arranged to play Longwood Golf Course through Golf Now at a price of $28.00 which is lower than their normal price
range of $45.00 or a members price of $37.00. Even at $28.00 The price was too high. The course maintenance and over all shape of the course was to low. This course needs some major help, there is little to no grass in the fairways, mostly dirt.
The price to play is not worth the shape of the course.
At this time I would not recommend this course.
Longwood golf club cypress texas
The staff was friendly and helpful. The course was I good condition for A wet-cold January. The scares from Harvey are still present., but the crew has done a very good job in making it playable again.
It seems that it was not recovered yet.
I had used Longwood course and I loved the course.
I played yesterday first time after Huricane Harvey. But overall course condition was not good.
I think Longwood needs more time to be back to same condition before Huricane.
soggy
enjoyed course but had rained heavily the night before. probably should of waited a day or two but if you a golfer; well you know what mean. will go back when weather a little drier.
palmetto fun
this nine holes is challenging but very playable. really enjoyed
It was a tough slog.
Not much roll as the course was soft from recent rain and even snow. Cool temps also made for a lack of distance on shots. Had to go two clubs longer. You don’t want to be just off the greens, they are elevated and difficult to chip to. Some water carries on this day were nearly impossible, especially on the last hole on Pines. Had to lay up with a wedge to avoid a 160 yard carry into a wind. Harvey left some sand near some fairways due to flooding. Greens had been reseeded, tough to judge putts.
Longwood issues
Although staff is friendly and attentive, course needs much work after Harvey’s visit.
fun
really enjoyed the course and met a new golfer . overall a very good round
Longwood Golf Coarse - Greens R Back!
What a pleasant surprise, The Greens R Back at Longwood. Beautiful, Slick, and full textured. Compliment to the Greens Keeper.. Exceptional. Also New CARTS, We played , Sunday 11-26-2017. 8:22am Tee Time. Great pace of Play. We look forward to playing our Next few Rounds here!
terrible experience
course is a very bad condition, not 100/150/200 marks, not cart guidance signs, slowest play ever.
Would not go back.
It is very shameful that a nice course layout being on such bad shape.
No marshals to move people. 6hr+ round
Good course for the money
Greens a little sandy and some of the fairways a little thin but overall a good course for the money.
Course getting better
The Longwood courses are getting better since the flooding from Harvey. The 9 hole Pine course has recently reopen.
The Palm and Post Oak courses have under went some major improvements, the bunkers have been redesigned and become more playable. The course has holes where sections of fairways have very little grass or no grass to hit from.
The tee box from several holes are rough and uneven with weeds are growing instead of grass. The greens on most of the hole are in good shape but their are a few with weeds growing and holes dug in the greens on the Post Oak course. They are
Working on improving the condition of the course.
I was told the course has new ownership.
Not to bad for being in a flood
Ok. They need to get rid of the crab grass on the greens before it takes over. A lot of work still needs done on the fairways.
Course conditions
The course was in very bad shape!! Number of holes looked like it had been under water. Lots of areas roped off. The guy behind the counter in the Club house was very nasty.
Great course, cannot wait for flood repairs to be complete
First time playing at Longwood and was pleasantly surprised. This course was heavily flooded from Hurricane Harvey and is still undergoing reconditioning. Because of the floods, they have you play a varied track than the normal 9 and 9 from 2 of the three courses. Definitely will be back out there this year.
After flood situation
It was after the Houston floods and damage was evident. The powers that be have done a great job in getting 18 holes out of their 27. Enjoyed the round understanding the situation. Kudos to them.
UGH
This is one of those courses that could be great unfortunately it never really has reached it's full potential. It's true in fairness that they've had to deal with some Mother Nature a ton. First a terrible drought that caused them to lose a ton of their tree. Once the drought was over a throw in a couple of tropical storms and a hurricane and it's been a tough go for any Golf Course to recover from. Our last Hurricane Harvey just threw them another curve and they're under repair again. Those that are familiar with the course know that the course is divided into 3 nines the Pine Course, The Post Course, and Palmetto. In order to get in 18 holes of golf they had to divide several different holes as holes 5,6,7,8 on the Palmetto Course are under repair and not playable, holes 4,5,6,7,9 aren't playable and under repair. So they divided all the playable holes so you have an 18 hole course. Stay in the fair way, which is true for any course but here it's a must otherwise you're playing lost balls, with grass so thick and under brush and virtual swamp areas is crazy. The greens are slow, fairways were soft but don't get fooled there are couple of fairways that the ball will get some roll. I tell you all this as nobody told me these were the conditions that we were going to be playing when I arrived. It was only as we checked in that we were made aware of the course and that's only after we paid our green fees. Here's the GOOD NEWS we pretty much had the course to ourselves on a Saturday morning. I'll not be playing Longwood again I might recommend their Cypress Lake course it's worth checking out.
