Maintenance takes a backseat
While the course did take a lot of rain from previous days there is still no denying that maintenance is not a high priority at this course. The sand traps were definitely in need of maintenance with rain not the only issue as there was grass and weeds growing in multiple traps besides being washed out.
A recurring issue throughout this entire summer is the quality of the greens. Dead spots and weeds fungus etc. are evident throughout the course.
While the temperature reached into the upper 90s there was Not any personal on the course with refreshments nor were any water bottles present.
Great value
The course has a solid layout. The fairways are in good shape (especially for the summer) but a few of the greens had bare spots. The only hiccup was that my cart was hard to steer and a few other players’ carts died between the 14-17th holes. Great value overall!
Will play here again
Pro shop staff was professional and courteous. Greens well maintained. Will play there again.
Nice layout, better value
Few tee boxes need help, greens continue to improve, fairways are in very good shape!
Overall good course
The course is in good shape. Some greens had some bare spots but putted well but were very slow. The sand traps were just that..none of them had been raked and most had weeds growing in them
Great value for your money
The fairways were in very good shape and the greens were in good shape as well. Pace of play was very acceptable.
Good course
Course is well kept. Needs more signs to help find the holes. Cart path needs to be redone in multiple places.
Course should close
When I arrived to check in I was informed I shouldn't play.because the course was flooded. I asked about the range and it was closed. so I went to the putting green to practice half of the green had no turf. While on the practice green a member told me they are closing the course soon. I have to say I was disappointed.
Lots of watet
Played a round this morning and it was a swamp. I was not surprised as we have had a lot of rain lately. There are somethings they could do to make it a better playing experience.
1. Clean off the greens. If your staff decides to mow the greens, at least take the time to clean the grass clumps off the greens when you done. The greens aren't in the best shape to begin with but this truly makes putting impossible.
2. Get rid of the sand traps. Most of the traps have very little sand in them and have rocks in the sand that is still in them. When they are wet like they are now its like hitting off the cart path.
3. Stop mowing the fairways that are holding water. On Pine 6, they decided to mow the fairway and they mowed it down to the mud. The fairway is virtually not playable as it is now 300 yards of mud. If the carts have to stay on the cart path keep the mowers off until the water has soaked in to prevent causing more issues.
4. If you do mow the fairway, don't leave ruts from the wheels of the mowers. Its hard enough without having to play out of tire marks left by the passing of the maintenance equipment. They also need to remove the piles of grass that fall off the mower or the grass that they actually cut. There is nothing like hitting a good ball just to have it hung up in the fairway by a pile grass.
These things aside as most of this a result of lots of rain, it is a nice course to play. The staff is friendly and most of the time the pace is pretty good.
