Better, Sort Of
Played this course many times but not recently because of how terrible the course conditions, especially greens have been - virtually unplayable. I'll admit the greens were better, with less weeds, dead spots, moldy green areas. However, the downside was that they were ridiculously slow from needing a cut or roll and also littered with leaves, twigs etc - admittedly, at least were mostly playable which is an improvement.
Tee boxes still need some work but weren't rock hard at least and the fairways need some maintenance. The carpath is always bad and probably won't ever change, and I'll give a pass on the bunkers since most places aren't maintaining presently.
I'd recommend but definitely only if there's a deal or maybe twilight price.
Not bad
If you want a cheaper course, this is for you. It doesn’t cost 100 bucks which was nice. But course was 3/5
Longwood Golf Course is back
The course was in really good shape. Played Post to Pine courses. The course had not been that good for the last couple of years due to flooding. Every time they were getting the course back on track, a deluge of rain would hit the course and they would be back a square one. The fairways were well groomed and the greens were in good shape as well, though still slow. Looking forward to going back for another round soon.
variety of design holes, beautiful tree lined borders
Great to see the effort to bring back the condition of the true exception in landscape contour in the greater Houston area.
Course was in rough shape
Starter tried to make me ride in the same cart as someone that I have never met. Overall starter had a bad attitude from the time I got there. Clubhouse guy was very friendly and set him straight. Had a group that was two groups ahead of us that were about 3 holes behind. Practice facilities needed to be mowed and the hole course.
Much better
I played longwood a few months back and it was in pretty rough shape, from tee to green. I have to say I’m glad I went back it’s really back on the rise. Still a few things need to be done but it is 100% better that it was. It’s close to being what it used to be. Keep up the great work
Nice course
The only complaint I have is that I kept getting lost as there are three different courses. The Marshall was kind enough to help me out.
Friendly
Good course & pace of play. 3 Carts played out & had to walk to get carts after waiting 40 minutes
SIGNAGE PLEASE
I haven't been to Longwood for about a year ,because of the poor conditions of the course in the past. I have heard that they are making progress, and it is showing a little bit. Several Tee Boxes are still all dirt. Not fun on the par threes. The Greens are better than last time I played here, so that was a plus. The Pro shop guy and starter were friendly. The big issue I had was the lack of signage on the post course. Good luck finding the 5th tee box. Took me 15 minutes of driving around ,Same thing on 9
There are many signs BUT GUYS you need a few more.
I reported this to the starter and was told people get lost between holes all the time.
If you know about it, How about a fix. A few signs wouldn't be a big deal for your maintenance guys.
Overall the course was worth the $37 I paid. Now will I go back YES BUT WITH A GUIDE
Longwood is allllllll gooooooood!
A little wet in the am but the course was in really good condition. Shot a fun 88
variety of design holes, beautiful tree lined borders
Great improved tee box grass & turf / grass fairways & much improved greens!
Worth Your Time
I feel like this course doesn't drain extremely well but with no rain in the past week, it was great. Sometimes the greens can be a little chewed up but today (aside from a few patches) they were more than acceptable. Tee boxes and fairways were also in excellent shape. Areas outside of the cart path were beat up/hard pan but that's a minor complaint. I'll definitely come back again soon. The water coolers have been removed so be prepared with your own water if you want it.
